Plagiarism is the disreputable act of seizing the executed product of a person or persons with the intent of passing off such creations as one’s own.

• The derivation of the word plagiarism, known as plagiarius in Latin, is “kidnapper”.• Plagiarism doesn’t occur in just educational facilities or competitive companies; it can occur in

you own home while browsing the internet. An example of this is a site that is well-known to creative artists everywhere will indeed confirm to you that http//www.DeviantArt.com is a breeding ground for brilliant innovators and greedy art thieves.

You take the ruby slippers, I take you!

Examples of How Plagiarism is Endangering Creativity on the

Internet Lara Jade uploaded an image of herself on DeviantArt.com that she took when she was just shy of fourteen, never really suspecting that her innocent picture would end up on the cover of a DVD porno!

Another artist, Deb Walker, had a few of her art works snagged and ruthlessly sold as prints in the streets of Las Vegas, others were being sold on e-bay.

Take it from MeNot literally, please! This is a live example I am showing you.

This drawing that you see beside the text was a piece that I made and uploaded online as a small tribute to Disney. I gave the company full credit and claimed that the two characters, Phoebus and Esmeralda, were not mine.

Little did I know, much to my present dismay, a Tumblr.com user had the audacity to steal my work and pass it off as his own.

I wouldn’t want this to happen to anyone.

Please think before stealing the works of others as it is sad and disgraceful.

The Penalties for Plagiarism

Reducing your grade depending on the severity of the crime committed.

Being painfully simple, you can just receive an ‘F’ if mercy is not present.

Lowering the student's overall course grade

You may rather instantaneously get flunked out of the class.

You can also get expelled! So don’t do it!

What’s So Bad About it? You don’t use your noggin as

much when you copy off the works of others.

You can’t quite build on your sense of know-how or imagination.

You can’t even utilize your skills nor advance them in any way.

Improvement becomes a thing of the past!

You lower your ethics as you progress through life – whether it be on the internet or in the real world.

You can never express yourself because you’re too busy being the fellow you are plagiarising.

How to Avoid Plagiarism

Provide the source of such images, clips, artworks, books and ideas being used.

Learning how to paraphrase may also help!

Get creative and see things through your own eyes, not through the eyes of another.
