Classroom Procedures:

Entering the classroom: When you enter the classroom, please do so quickly and quietly. Put anything you do not need into your locker and find your seat. As soon as the bell rings, you are

expected to begin working on the bell ringer activity for the day.

Tardy: If you are not in class when the bell rings, you will be marked tardy. Three marks will result in a letter sent home to your parents. If you come in tardy, quietly take your seat and

begin working immediately.

Absences: If you are absent, you will bring an excuse from a doctor or parent before you will be allowed to make up the work.

Lunch count/Attendance: Hot lunch means you are eating from the cafeteria. Cold lunch means you brought it from home. After putting your belongings in your locker, move your pin

to whichever side it is that you will be eating lunch for that day.

Assignments: You are responsible for completing your work in the time frame I allow. If you do not, you may take it home to complete but it must be turned in at the beginning of the next day. If you do not complete your assignments, you will get a verbal warning first and a letter

sent home the second time.

End of Class: When class is over, please remain in your seat until I have dismissed you

Bathroom/Water breaks: I will dismiss your table when it is time for your bathroom/water break. If you need to go at another time, raise your hand and ask permission.

If you feel sick: Please raise your hand and let me know immediately. we will discuss the situation and whether we should send you to the nurse or make a call home.

Whole Group Work: Be respectful when others are talking. Do not scream out or try to talk over anyone. Listen and wait for your turn to speak. You will know it is your turn when I call

out your name.

If you finish early: Pull out an AR book and read quietly until everyone is finished.

Seating: You will be assigned seats and we will rearrange the seating once a month. Look for your name on your desk.

When I need your attention: I will ask you for a high five. Raise one hand up above your head and the other to your lips. When I nod, you can lower them. This means it is time to listen.

Misbehavior-Incentives and Consequences

It is important that you follow the rules and procedures every day. Doing so, will result in incentives. Not doing so will result in consequences.

Incentives will come in the form of brag slips. If you go out of your way to help someone else, if you make a big improvement on a test score, or if you follow all rules and procedures you are likely to get a brag slip. This will have your name and what you have done, written on it. After collecting ten brag slips, you will be able to get something out of the grab bag. The grab bag

will contain small toys, snacks, and school supplies.

Consequences for misbehavior are as follows:

1.Verbal warning

2. You will be asked to fill out a Stop and Think Sheet which we will go over together

3. Teacher-student conference about the behavior.

4. Meeting with the principal and/or parents.

(Some behaviors, such as fighting, will go directly to step 4.)

Our classroom rules and procedures are to ensure your safety and to provide a good learning experience. I ask that you sign, or print, your name to the bottom of this sheet, as well as a

parent. This way, we can start our school year out under clear directions of what is expected from you in my classroom.
