Page 5: Classifications Update

To aid anyone wishing to create a new template, we currently have a good document, “PIDX Template Development Guidelines”

This document and CatMaster will now to be modified to match the new process, volunteers to help Paul and I with the document task, much appreciated …..

The new address list on CatMaster of ‘users’ is ~215

However, activity on the toolset has been nearly exclusively limited to third party data specialists contracted to larger companies,

They have been very active such that they have revisited most of our prior 2100 templates and added information or modified them, plus added an incremental 1800 templates from new. Total now 3900 !

Class WGActivity on CatMaster toolset

Sadly there was not a large amount of review work performed by peers of these new and modified templates.

However, based this huge amount of work, the Workgroup committee have elected to create a new release, to be termed 5.0 and this has been scheduled for release as of ~ 15th March 2008.

Class WGRFP/ RFI for outsourcing of template development for our

members

At the close of the Fall 2007 Houston meeting, I received the OK from the Executive to go for an RFP to the industry experts.

The RFP went to 5 enterprises, with 1 more accepting to be excluded, RESPONSES

1 declined as they have a proprietary system, 1 no response, and 3 offers.

One of the offers made a specific and interesting counter offer, to be discussed with the Executive at the next Exec Committee meeting, at least within 30 days, with my recommendation to accept.

More news very soon.

Paul , I and others are reviewing the functionalities and capabilities of the

system which holds our templates and for which PIDX pays a license fee

annually.

More news later, just be assured…..

Class WGMapping to the eOTD

What is the eOTD

A series of words with codes and definitions

Dictated by the ECCMA members

Some of what is in the PIDX templates already exists

The remainder can and should be added

Note:

A dictionary is only as useful as the implementation guide.

The advantage?

Semantic communication of data using codes
