CLASSIC TIMES From Our Director…..Lynda Christison

Every spring, the Administration on Aging selects a new theme for May, Older Americans Month. The 2019 theme “Connect, Create, and Contribute” truly reflects the heart

and actions of our services, staff, volunteers, program participants, and community partners. It is critical to everyone’s wellbeing (of any age) to Connect with friends, family, and local services and resources; Create through activities that promote learning, health and personal enrichment; and Contribute time, talent, and life experience to benefit others. Our senior centers offer wonderful opportunities to fulfill all three of these important goals – check out the page for the center closest to you as well as the Classic Travelers’ upcoming trips and see if there isn’t something that interests you as a way to “Connect, Create, and Contribute”.

April is National Volunteer Month and we truly could not provide all the programs and services without our amazing volunteers!! From the bottom of our hearts, thank you all for giving so generously of your time to deliver meals and visit with our homebound clients, work at senior centers, and help with special projects and events. You are truly “Connecting, Creating, and Contributing” in a vital way.

A very special thank you to everyone who contribut-ed their time and creativity to our 2019 March for Meals campaign – especially the talented Zumba in-structors for leading the Rockn’ Shamrock Zumbathon, Champions Week participants, and all of our amazing volunteers.

We will be issuing the 2019 Seniors Farmers’ Market Vouchers starting Monday, June 3rd thru Thursday,

June 6th. Please read the schedule on Page 2 careful-ly for qualifying requirements and the days and times.

As fundraising efforts, contributions, and money from our general fund pay for more than 60% of the cost of the 121,500 home delivered meals we are provid-ing this year, LCRAC is very pleased to be a recipient of a donation from funds raised by the 2018-19 Subaru Share the Love Event supporting Meals on Wheels America and its members nationwide.
