Meetings How to make an appointment
- Spring sales: By Appointment ONLY May 1 - May 23- Book an appointment on the SignUpGenius link on
HPHighlander.com- Appointments are 15 minutes, during 3rd-6th period (10:06
a.m. -1:40 p.m.)- Schedule ASAP if you haven’t already.- Ad sales will resume in the fall August 28-September 13
with walk-ins, no appointment necessary
Meetings - What to bring
- Photos on a FLASH DRIVE or HARD COPIES- Photos will NOT be returned, so do not bring originals- Message you would like included- Credit card or check
Ads cannot be completed if you do not have ALL photos and text at your meeting.
EXCEPTION for spring ads only: the main senior photo may be provided later after you have it taken over the summer months.
Deadlines
- Spring sales: By Appointment only, May 1 - May 23.- Fall sales: No appointments, space based on availability,
August 28-September 13- Senior photo replacement: September 13- Proofs emailed to parents: October 7- Proofs approved by parents and finalized: October 18
Ad Sizes & Specifications
- 1 block: 1 photo, 1 line of text- 3 blocks: 1 to 3 photos, 1 to 3 lines of text- 4 blocks: 1 to 3 photos, 2 to 6 lines of text- 6 blocks: 1 to 5 photos, 2 to 6 lines of text- 9 blocks: 1 to 9 photos, 2 to 10 lines of text- 12 blocks: 1 to 9 photos, 2 to 10 lines of text (full page &
only available to groups)

Types of Ads
- Family ads: guaranteed space in the spring; 9 block largest size; Limit up to 12 blocks total (for example: 9 block & 3 block)
- Friendship ads: first come, first serve in the fall- Sports/Clubs/Organizations ads: done through a single
representative of the group; 12 block size maximum and available in the spring ONLY. Must hold the ad in the spring and guarantee the spring price payment by September 13.
Pricing
- Senior ads are used to support the yearbook organization and the cost of the yearbook production.
- The primary source of revenue for the journalism department for curriculum and equipment needs.
- We appreciate your support of the program!
Pricing
Photos- Ads will be in full color unless otherwise specified- You do not need to bring a placeholder photo for the senior
photo, as we have required in years past. You can give us the senior photo after you have taken it. Due by September 13.
- Senior photos submitted after September 13 will be subject to a $50 late fee
- Please no nudity (regardless of age), drugs, alcohol, tobacco, or firearms in photos
- The student leaders reserve the right to turn down photos they deem not appropriate.
Photos- HIGH RESOLUTION photos are important. - Take into consideration of the width, height and resolution of
the images you want to use. - 300 DPI is considered high resolution for yearbook printing. - Avoid using photos from websites like Facebook, Twitter,
Instagram, because they decrease photo quality. - Scan your photos at a minimum of 300 dpi- Low resolution images could result in pixelated and poor
quality for printing.
Photos- We will crop images for you. - Please communicate with us how you would like an image
cropped if necessary. - Be mindful of horizontal photos and vertical photos when
selecting photos for your ad.
Text
- Please avoid copyrighted works (ie. song lyrics, movie quotes, etc.)
- For the recommended amount of text, please review “Ad Sizes & Specifications” in the information packet
- All text will be in the same font style- We highly recommend you make the message personal and
relevant to your student.
Senior Portraits
- Deadline for senior portrait in ad: September 13- You are welcome to use a portrait photographer of your
choosing for your senior portraits as long as they are willing to release a copyright of the image to the Highlander yearbook staff.
- Courtney Teesdale Photography is our preferred photographer. They make it an easy and seamless process.

Portrait Difference for Seniors
- Environmentals are most common types of solo shots used on ads
- This type of senior portrait is for tribute ad use in the yearbook. This portrait is different from their senior headshot.
Portrait Difference for Seniors
- Seniors take a different school portrait for the yearbook panel spreads.
- This is a different portrait from their ID card photo.- This is a contracted portrait with Teesdale Photography. - There is no sitting fee for this portrait. - It may be taken at the studio over the summer or on
senior registration day in August. - This senior headshot must be taken by October 12.
Proofs- Watch for emails from [email protected]; add this
email to your contacts- Proofs will be emailed to parents by: October 7- Responses from parents for edits and revisions due: October
18- Check for:
- Spelling of names- Photos in the correct place- Photo quality
- Photos replaced during the proofing process cost $50 each (however, photos replaced due to quality issues are free of charge)
