Information sessions: 6 to 7 p.m. Monday, December 10 or Monday, January 14 NOMADIC | 24 The UC California Naturalist Program is designed to introduce Californians to the wonders of our unique ecology and engage the public in study and stewardship of California’s natural communities. The program uses a science curriculum, hands-on learning, problem-solving, and citizen science to instill a deep appreciation for the natural communities of this state and to inspire individuals to become stewards of local resources. Students are taught by UCR lead instructor Dr. Cameron Barrows and a team of experts. Subjects covered in the UCR Palm Desert California Naturalist course include ecology, geology, plant communities, wildlife, communication and interpretation, energy and global environmental issues, and more. The California Naturalist Program will engage and empower our community to help protect and preserve our diverse desert habitats now and for future generations.
