IMPORTANT INFORMATION!
• The Valedictorian and Salutatorian are selected by Shelby County Schools based on 1st semester grades of the Senior year.
• Colleges will still look at 2nd semester grades of the Senior year, and they can change the status of your acceptance letter
Total Credits Required: 22
Math: 4 Credits - Including Algebra I, II, Geometry and a fourth higher
level math courseScience: 3 Credits - Including
Biology, Chemistry or Physics, and a third lab course
English: 4 Credits
Social Studies: 3 Credits
Physical Education And Wellness: 1.5 Credits
Personal Finance: 0.5 Credits
Foreign Language: 2 Credits
Fine Arts: 1 Credit - May be waived for students not going to a
University to expand and enhance the elective focus
Elective Focus: 3 Credits - Math and Science, Career and Technical
Education, Fine Arts, Humanities, Advanced Placement (AP) or
International Baccalaureate (IB)

You cannot take the same class and get 2 credits….Basically you can’t take a class again and expect to
get another credit!!
TRANSCRIPT CHECK
• Find your GPA
• Find the number of credits earned
• Make sure all credits earned (including middle school credits) are on your transcript
• Check your transcript against the graduation requirements
HOPE (LOTTERY ) SCHOLARSHIP
Entering freshmen must have a
• Minimum of a 21 ACT (980 SAT), exclusive of the essay and optional subject area battery tests
OR
• Overall minimum 3.0 grade point average (GPA) on a 4.0 scale (unweighted GPA)
VIRTUAL SCHOOL
• Earning additional high school credits/ classes not offered at Central
• Failed classes
CLEARINGHOUSE
Students must be cleared in order to play collegiate sports
Students must register, pay fee, send SAT/ACT test scores, and transcripts in order to qualify
A certain GPA must meet a certain score on ACT/SAT (Sliding Scale)

PSAT THE PRELIMINARY SAT/NATIONAL MERIT SCHOLARSHIP QUALIFYING TEST
(PSAT/NMSQT)
All 10th grade students are required to take the PSAT October 15. There is no
cost• Standardized test that provides firsthand practice for the
SAT®
• Gives you a chance to enter NMSC scholarship programs
• Gain access to college and career planning tools.
Measures:
Critical reading skills
Math problem-solving skills
Writing skills
SAT/SCHOLASTIC APTITUDE TEST Tests verbal and math skills in 6 sections
3 hours in length
Multiple choice plus a grid-in section on the math portion
College Board does not recommend a student to take the official SAT until the 2nd semester of their 11th grade school year
Does not test grammar or spelling
ACT PLAN
10th grade students will take the PLAN October 30, free.
• Helps you prepare for the ACT
• Includes four multiple-choice tests: English, Math, Reading, and Science.
