Instruction--for math, we use software to practice facts, reinforce concepts, tell time, count
money, learn place value, etc.; for language arts, we use AR daily (every child is required to
take at least one test a week, most take more), research for writing, demonstration writing
lessons, proofing and editing, and typing our stories on the back computers; for science and
social studies technology in the classroom is invaluable for vocabulary, concepts, and
research.
48
These computers are detrimental to my every instruction. My students have montly AR goals
to prepare them for junior high, and without the everyday accessibilty to these computers,
this would cause major problems in my classroom.
49 nothing...the internet connection is too slow to be efficient
50 creating audio broadcasts for SC Radio club
51
I use the computers in the classroom for many things such as AR tests, word processing,
and educational games. I don't feel that just having a computer lab for all the students in
the school to use (without having the permanent computers) will be sufficient. If our focus
is to increase the use of technology in the classroom, then why would we be decreasing theamount of computers in the school? It doesn't seem to make sense. I think that having
computers for the students in the room is valuable and necessary.
52 indoor recess games
53 outdated iMacs; do not meet needs
54 MAP Testing, STAR Testing (Yes, we still like to use it here)
55 have used for students that need cowriter type programs
56
AR, Keyskills, and Jumpstart 3rd grade are the only programs that can be used by second
graders on the 3 student computers I have. They are not very useful, and could have more
potential if they could run updated programs, if we had updated programs/CD's to run and if
we had internet access. They could research on the internet, and there are awesome
independent learning sites, like PBS kids that could be used during centers.
