SUs: What and Why?
“A Specialized Unit (SU) is a proactive
expansion strategy to provide and increase the
number of ELD Experiences at Local and
National level. SU are an opportunity to reach
more markets”.
WHAT?
Old Expansion Mechanism: IG -> MC/LC -> Feasibility
study -> Extensor LC selection -> approval at national
conference -> legalization -> operation -> development
Main Problems:
bureaucratic, time consuming, centralized
“How to grow consistently, reducing the bureaucracy of
the expansion process?”

Managing your SUs
City-based SU
University-based SU
- Define a local Expansion Manager on your LC
- Evolve the SUs on your strategic planning

local Expansion Manager (specific and trainings, visits, events, etc)

Communication
Investments
MAIN GAPS
1. SUPPORT - It’s not the LC focus, they have different local priorities, it’s wasn’t
planned, they are not truly committed
2. COMMUNICATION - It takes too long to receive an answer (sense of urgency), they’re
not available to clarifications, strategies are not designed together
3. INVESTMENTS, TRAINING AND VISITS - Insufficient number of visits, low knowledge of local reality, generic trainings
4. MANAGEMENT - low level of autonomy for decision making.
