Great work Clarence Town Public School – we raised $336.90

for CANTEEN on our Bandana Day.

Well done to our 2017 Choir who performed at the River

Country Hoedown Ploughman’s Lunch on Saturday and wooed

the crowd with their wonderful ability.

Great work –

Emily Layzell, Heidi Sinclair, Claudia Watt, Jade Smith and

Paige Hensley-Turner are our 2017 Clarence Town Public

School Public Speaking Competition semi-finalists. This week

is round 1 of the semi-finals.

Principal’s News

Welcome to Week 4 of Term 4 and 19 days until our 2017

Spring Fete. The classes are all preparing their stall items and

each class has also completed a self-portrait, which will be on

sale at the Fete. The portraits look wonderful and will make

brilliant Artwork for the walls at home or excellent Christmas

presents for grandparents!

Week 1 of our Intensive Swimming was a great success and

the program continues this week. We also had a very

successful week of Bandana Sales to support CANTEEN and a

great Bandana Day last Friday. Our Choir also performed on

Saturday at the Hoedown and were a huge hit with the

Ploughman’s Lunch crowd. Thanks to Miss Bunn and Mrs

Bagnall for organising the students practice sessions and on

the day.

After a successful 2018 Kinder Parent Information Session last

week, we have the first of our 2018 Kindergarten students visit

this Wednesday from 11am to 12 noon. The students will have

their first taste of ‘big’ school and meet their Buddies. We look

forward to meeting all our new Kinder friends.

NB: One of our new Kindergarten students is anaphylactic

to nuts and I have reminded all present students that we do

not bring nuts to school – this includes peanut butter,

nutella and any foods actually containing nuts. Foods, such

as muesli bars, that may contain traces of nuts are OK to bring.

This is a life threatening situation for this student and I thank

everyone for their diligence and support to keep all our students

safe at school.

At this morning’s assembly I reminded students about sharing

food and money. Over the last few weeks we have had several

students sharing food with friends and buying ice blocks or

canteen items for friends. I ask that you support the school in

reminding your children that sharing food and money at school

is not allowed as some students have allergies and we need to

keep everyone safe.

Many of you may have seen an Ambulance at school last Friday

morning; unfortunately one of our Canteen Volunteers, Rina,

was rushed to hospital after not feeling well. It transpired that

she has had a mild heart attack! However, I am pleased to say

that she has improved over the weekend and is doing well. Rina

is still in hospital and will undergo further tests in the next few

days. Rina has been a long standing Canteen volunteer, who

started volunteering in the canteen when her Grandchildren

attended the school over a decade ago and she continues to

support our school in this way! We send her our best wishes for

a speedy recovery.

Ms Kelson is out of school today, at Dungog Public School

today as the Assistant Principal Representative on their panel to

choose a new Assistant Principal for Dungog Public School.

Principals and Assistant Principals are often called to represent

on selection panels for new positions across the Maitland area.

Selection Panels are made up of Directors/Principals, Teacher

Representatives, Parent representatives, a representative at the

same level eg Principal, Assistant Principal, Deputy Principal

and a Representative from the Aboriginal Community. This is a

very important role and I know that Dungog PS are very

appreciative of Ms Kelson’s expertise. I will be out of school

tomorrow to attend meetings and on Friday I will be attending

the funeral of a student from one of my previous schools. This

little fellow was in his first year of High School and tragically

passed away last Thursday evening from an Asthma Attack - a

very sad reminder to count our blessings every day.

School Assembly this Wednesday 1 November 2017 starting at 2.00pm. S2/3C will do an item. Everyone is welcome

IMPORTANT NOTICES - Reminders

We are constantly reminding students of our PBL Values and school motto along with our Tawny 5 Rules and I would also encourage parents to use these words when celebrating positive behaviour and discussing negative choices with your child. This week we are reviewing our playground rules focusing on respect and safety. During the first half of term 4 all classes will be participating in PBL lessons focused on Respect. The Tawny 5 Rules:

Kindness Honesty Effort The Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) Values:

Year 7 2018 Bus Application

We wish to advise that Transport for NSW have now opened the online bus application for 2018.

Students entering High School in 2018 will need to do the online bus application with Transport

NSW to be eligible for free travel. We would urge all parents/carers with students starting Year 7

next year to go online to transportnsw.info/school-students and get their free transport approved

ASAP, as all new bus stops need to undergo a risk assessment and approval. This can take a few

months so it would be a great idea to get your online application done now. If you have any trouble

with the online form or have any questions about bus stops, times etc. please contact Sheltons Bus

Service on 4992 1745. Please note without these forms done students will not be eligible for

free transport next year.
