INTRODUCTION

Claim location

The work described in this report was performed on the claim S3000388 located in Cartier Township (G-4021) northwest of the City of Sudbury and west of the town of Onaping (Fig. 1). Ontario Provincial Highway 144 crosses the property in its northeast comer providing easy access. A logging road running east-west facilitates access to the west part of the claim.

The claim is located in the Superior Province, approximately 2.5 Ian northwest of the Sudbury Igneous Complex (SIC). The bedrock is composed of gneisses of the Levack Gneiss Complex to the south and the Cartier Batholith to the north. Overburden is composed of poorly sorted till.

Date and nature of work

Field work, including mapping and sampling, were conducted by Hugues Longuepee (geol. in training) and Jerry Grant (P.Geo) on a three days period, from July 2lH and July 23m 2005. Traverses were designed to visit any prospective locations of outcrop based on air photo interpretation. Six traverses for a total of approximately 10 km were walked. Samples were collected for geochemical analyses and thin sections. Petrographic descriptions (23) were done by Hugues Longuepee between November 3rd and November 8th 2005. A total of 25 samples were sent for assay and geochemical analyses. The report was written by Hugues Longuepee.

GEOLOGICAL MAPPING

Detailed geology

The study area can be divided in four major units (Fig. 3): the Levack Gneiss Complex, the Cartier Batholith, Nippissing Intrusions and Sudbury Breccia. The Levack Gneiss Complex covers 50% of the claim and is composed of granitoid, and intermediate gneisses. The massive granitoid is younger than the gneisses because it contains xenoliths of mafic gneiss and gabbro. The Levack Gneiss Complex is cut by several generations of granitoids, all of which are part of the Cartier Batholith. The granitoids are found mainly to the east band southwest of the property. Several Nippising intrusions are generally present as 10 to 30 meters-wide diabase dyke of variable orientation. A 450 meter-wide mafic intrusion, interpreted as Nippissing in age, is present in the southwest comer of the property. It has a NNW -SSE axis. The occurrence of diabase fragments in the MNZD suggests several generation of mafic intrusion. The fourth unit is a breccia with a pseudotachylite matrix, commonly referred to as Sudbury Breccia. This impact-related breccia contains xenoliths of all local rocks. It forms a belt 20 meters wide that crosses most of the property along s ENE-WSW axis. Detailed description of the different lithologies is provided in the Petrographic Studies section.

Structure

No major structures have been identified during the survey. A single fault, with no observable displacement, has been interpreted from a lineament in the northern part of the property. Variations in the gneissic layering is interpreted as pre-SIC folding during metamorphism that formed the Levack Gneiss Complex. No fold axes were identified.

Mineralization

There was no encountered mineralization except for a diabase sample with 2-3% pyrrhotite (HL270; Fig. 3) and yielding no significant assay results. The sulphides occur as blebs in the diabase.
