Claim: In any field—business, politics, education, government—those in power should step down after five years.

Reason: The surest path to success for any enterprise is revitalization through new leadership.

Write a response in which you discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the claim and the reason on which that claim is based.

A linear equation for success, which equals to the only “X” factor with some coefficient, is a dream for every human being from the inception of life in this world. But the dream is still a dream, far away from reality. This claim suggests this “X” factor for an enterprise as the new leadership. But, in fact, life is not so easy, new leadership is not the only way to success in the fields like, business, politics, education and government.

New face comes to leadership with lots of energy which boosts the process of bottleneck elimination in the development of a system. The time when Barack Obama, president of United States of America, started his era, country was drenched in unresolved economic loopholes from the regime of George Bush, former President. Obama and his new team won these problems successfully. Similar scenarios is also observed in business. Business conglomerates introduces new CEOs within a short period of time to revitalize their money making process. Hence, change in leadership leads to success stories.

On the other hand, experience is one of the key factor in success. To make an enterprise successful, leaders need to undertake long term projects. Success of these project largely depends on the tenure of the team leads. Malaysia, a developing country in south-east Asia, is leading business in the region: a perfect example of success of long-term leadership. Mahathir Mohammad was the prime minister of this country for more than two decades. His strong leadership rocketed the Malaysian development. Same picture is also observed in other enterprises, like, Bill gates, CEO of Microsoft Corporation for twenty five years, made his company number one in the world with resilient direction. Therefore, long term leadership is another factor for the success.

Though, it is matter of further research to identify the correct independent variable in enterprise success, some deductions can easily be done with the help of examples. New organizations - business, politics, government, education - should be led by same key people until the organization gets a strong back up like Malaysia, or Microsoft. When standards are set, developments reaches an equilibrium, then enterprises should alter the leadership to get the taste of new faces like, the first world country governments, CEOs in the multinational companies.

In conclusion, therefore, there are situation, such as enterprises become successful with long term leadership and oppositely, there are also some situation, where new leaders comes with

breakthrough. There are lots of other factor which aid in the success process. Hence, new leadership is not the surest way to success of an organization.
