Alternative Fastening Options

DIRECT MOUNT TO Z-GIRT BY OTHERS

Specification ConsiderationsA rainscreen system is part of the building envelope and integrated into the façade design. Can be installed on z-girts or similar cladding support systems. Should be used in conjunction with UV resistant weather barriers due to perforations in external panels. Direct mount installation system suitable for high wind conditions. Fasteners to be located at 8” o.c. Available with certified engineering package. Physical testing has been completed for this assembly. Factory cut predrilled holes for ease of installation. Contact Parasoleil for engineering calculation submittal requirements

Choosing Panel DimensionsDriven by building code requirements for panel deflection and stress. Thickness and spans can be optimized to meet engineering code requirements for max panel deflection allowance and material stress. Pattern geometry impacts engineering code compliance as well and is a factor in maximum allowable spans for a given wind pressure.

Baseline recommendation for specifying z-girt cladding system16-gage galvanized steel Z-girts (by others) at 30” spans for 1/8”aluminum panel thickness. Generally appropriate for common wind pressures in the continental U.S.

Installations ConsiderationsZ-girts (provided by others) to be cut to length in the field. Parasoleil provides the panels and fasteners only. Fasteners to be installed 8” o,c. in pre-drilled fastener holes provided by Parasoleil and confirmed on shop drawings.

DIRECT MOUNT TO TUBE STEEL BY OTHERS

Specification ConsiderationsSimple and straight forward, this method requires a grid of tube steel supports that design to receive the panels via a facemounted application. The panels will come with predrilled holes for ease of installation. Once the Grid has been installed, the panels are easily applied and fastened to the grid as an open-air metal panel skin.

Generally, we recommend no more than 4’ wide unsupported spans.

Baseline recommendation for specifying tube steel mounting systemTube purlins should be no less than 3” wide to allow for 2 panels to meet and be fastened to the same member. Purlins can run horizontally or vertically. System must be design and engineered by your engineer of record. Parasoleil to provide span and pressure details to inform the design.

Installations ConsiderationsTube steel (by others) to be cut to length in the field. Parasoleil provides the panels and fasteners only. Fasteners to be installed 8” o,c. in pre-drilled fastener holes provided by Parasoleil and confirmed on shop drawings.

TOOLS NEEDED Measuring tape Marking pencil Conventional drill with 5/16” and 7/16” drivers

PREPARATIONConfirm adequate blocking or structure is present within wall at center anchor mounting locations.

FIELD NOTESContact Parasoleil for installation questions, especially for high wind or snow load conditions.

See Parasoleil’s warranty document for warranty coverage.

Field drilling Parasoleil panels is allowed under warranty, however, field cutting panels is not recommended and will void manufacturer’s warranty. If an alternate panel size is needed, contact Parasoleil for assistance.

1

Beginning with the first panel as shown in Figure 1, attach PSO-Series hardware to panels with provided fastener.

2

Position the first panel assembly to the post and confirm location, alignment and adequate mounting structure or blocking at mounting locations. Install assembly with PSO center anchors using 5/16” driver.

3

Repeat Step 1 for the next panel and position on post using shared hardware points on Panel 1 as shown.

Confirm alignments and blocking and install second assembly using PSO center anchors with 5/16” driver.

Spec Guidance & Engineering

PANEL SPANS

Recommended panel thicknesses for certain widths using our Panel Thickness Callibrator to find the more appropriate dimensions.

WINDLOADS CONSIDERATIONS

Parasoleil provides engineering for building cladding components including our perforated panels, using a calculated design pressure based on key factors such as area wind speed, application height above the ground, project Risk Category, and Site Exposure Category. Using conventional structural calculations as well as our sophisticated Finite Element Analysis modeling soft-ware, this project specific design pressure is then ap-plied to the cladding system components to determine their deflection and material stress values as compared to Building code requirements.

SPECIFICATION PROCESS

1. Determining exact details to meet project design load requirements.

2. Full specifiable cladding systems for ease of pro-curement and installation by one substrade.

3. Proprietary patterns and hardware systems for confidence in locking the specification.

Engineering Education

At Parasoleil, we focus on engineering standards and certifications for our products because we understand the importance of design load compliance. As a result, we have refined our approach to our panel performance in any thickness, pattern, and application.

WHY IT MATTERS

Panels Attached to a BuildingPre-engineered patterns ensure IAPMO-ES 0488 certification is included in the square foot price. Project-specific engineering reports can be created to provide the most accurate analysis that lowers risk and cost for the GC. If additional documentation is required, such as a California DSA or NOA for Miami-Dade county, Parasoleil can provide applied engineering reports to satisfy documentation requirements.

Panels at Ground Level ExteriorParasoleil’s pre-engineered systems prevent building department slow downs and provides instant design flexibility without requiring a change order.

Panels in Interior ApplicationsThough decorative panels do not require wind or snow load engineering, they should look flat, be safe, and be designed to fit together for easy installation. Parasoleil’s engineered systems and dependable process ensureson-time production and expert guidance.

ENGINEERING AND LOAD TESTING PROCESS

Finite Element Analysis through computer models to

understand a patterned panel’s deflection

 Extensive product testing

 Code analysis

 Annual inspection for certification
