Kindergarten Library excursions

Here at Cotton Tree we are fortunate enough to be positioned right on the doorstep of the Maroochydore Library. We are aiming to build a strong connection with this wonderful community resource. This year we have commenced regular Library excursions with our Kindy group. We make our way over once a month to be involved in a range of rich literacy experiences. These experiences include storytelling, puppetry, songs, rhymes and listening to picture books. Afterwards the children enjoy doing some art and craft activities that relate to the theme of the session.

These excursions allow for a broad range of learning experiences. The children are building their understanding of the role and purpose of community Libraries. They are exploring a wide range of early literacy concepts by participating in songs, rhymes and storytelling experiences. The children are learning to be effective communicators and active listeners. They are learning to follow directions and be responsible outside of the service. Participating in these monthly excursions is a rewarding experience for all involved.
