1 RULES

1.1 TheregattawillbegovernedbytherulesasdefinedintheRacingRulesofSailing(RRS)2013–2016,andtheFairviewOceanis37classrules.

1.2 Incaseofconflict,theSailingInstructions(SI)shallprevail.ThischangesRRS63.7.

2 NOTICESTOCOMPETITORS

2.1 NoticestocompetitorswillbepostedontheofficialNoticeBoardlocatedintheLowerMarqueeattheIslandSailingClub(ISC)and,wherepossible,ontheISCWebsiteatwww.islandsc.org.uk/racingdocuments.aspx

3 CHANGESTOSAILINGINSTRUCTIONS

3.1 AnychangetotheSailingInstructionswillbepostedontheofficialNoticeBoardattheISCby08:30eachday.

3.2 Theorganisersreservetherighttorescheduleraces,starttimes,andtorevertfromapublishedCommitteeBoatstarttoaClubLinestartshouldweatherortidalconditionsdictate.Raceswillretaintheirpublishednumberifconductedoutofpublishedorder.

3.3 Changestoraceswillbeindicatedbydisplayingcodeflag“L”togetherwiththenumeralpennantdenotingthelatestamendment,andmaybeannouncedbytheRaceOfficeroverVHFasdescribedinSI5.9.Itisthecompetitors’responsibilitytoobtainthisinformation.

8.2 CityofPlymouthTrophyraces1,2and3mayalsouseinflatablemarks.TheirpositionmaybedescribedonVHFbeforeand/orafterthewarningsignal(SI5.9).

9 PROHIBITIONS

9.1 AllboatsshallpasstothenorthofthenewCowesbreakwaterwhilstracing.9.2 BoatsmustnotanchororkedgewithintheareabetweenStonePointandGurnardBayas

indicatedonAdmiraltySmallCraftChart5600.2andtheCentralSolentChartavailableonISCwebsite(http://www.islandsc.org.uk/racingdocuments.aspx).Gasandwaterpipes,telephonecablesandveryhightensionelectricitycables(135kV)lieonthesurfaceoftheseabed.

12 PENALTYSYSTEM12.1 AboatthatisOnCourseSide(OCS)inanyoftheRutherfordAppletonLaboratory

Trophyraceswillbescoredwithatimepenaltyof5%oftheboat’selapsedtime,roundedtothenearestsecond,unlesstheRaceCommitteedecidesthatshehasgainedasignificantadvantage,inwhichcasesheshallbescoredasOCS.ThischangesRRSA4.2.

13 TIMELIMITS13.1 ThetimelimitsforeachraceareshowninthetableinSI4.13.2 ForCityofPlymouthTrophyraces,boatsfinishingafterthestatedtimelimitor30

minutesafterthefirstboattofinish,whicheverislongest,willbescoredDNF.ThischangesRRS35.

13.3 ForRutherfordAppletonLaboratoryTrophyRaces,boatsfinishingafterthestatedtimelimitor60minutesafterthefirstboattofinish,whicheverislongest,willbescoredDNF(withtheexceptionofraces2and3ifshortened-seeSI14).ThischangesRRS35.

14 SHORTENINGAFTERTHESTART14.1 RUTHERFORDAPPLETONLABORATORY(RAL)TROPHYRACES2AND3

14.1.1 ForRALTrophyraces2and3,allboatsarerequiredtorecordtheir‘racetime’,and(ifpossible)thesailnumberoftheboataheadandastern,whenthecourseroundingmarkthatisfurthestEastbears270°Magnetic,furthestSouthbears0°Magnetic,furthestWestbears90°Magnetic,andfurthestNorthbears180°Magnetic.Dependingonthecourseset,aroundingmarkmayhavemultipleracetimesrecorded.

14.1.2 Ifpractical,theRaceOfficermayannouncethedecisiontoshortenthecourseonVHFChannel37A(M).ThischangesRRS32.1andRRS32.2.Alternatively,theRaceOfficermayretrospectivelyshortenthecourseifnoboatfinisheswithinthestatedtimelimit(SI4).ThischangesRRS32.2andRRS35.

14.1.3 Theshortenedcoursefinishlinewillbeoneofthe‘racetime’roundingmarks(seeSI14.1.1).Thetimelimitwillbe60minutesafterthefirstboattofinishtheshortenedcourse.Boatsmustsubmittheir‘racetimes’totheracecommittee(byVHForbyphoning01983249436)withinthestatedracetimelimit(SI4)ortheywillbescoredDNS.ThischangesRRS35.

15 PROTESTSANDREQUESTSFORREDRESS15.1 ProtestsshallbelodgedattheRaceOfficeattheISC.TheProtesttimelimitis120

minutesafterthelastboathasfinishedthelastraceoftheday.BoatsintendingtoprotestmustinformtheracecommitteebyVHFor,forshorelineracedaysonly,byphone01983249436.

15.2 Thetimeandplaceofanyhearingwillbedisplayedontheofficialnoticeboard.ItistheresponsibilityofboththeprotestorandprotesteetoestablishthetimeandplaceofthehearinginconjunctionwiththeISC.

15.3 WherepossibleProtesthearingswillnormallytakeplaceonthedayoftherace.

16 SCORING16.1 ScoringwillfollowtheLowPointsSystemasdescribedinRRS2013–2016andRRSA4.2
