LOVE POEM BY A CIVIL ENGINEER

Hey today is the dayWhen it’ll all go our way

Hearts and loversShow their proof on Valentine’s Day

And today is the dayWhen half-credit’s okay

With my best tryHere’s something you’d appreciate

Cause I’m in love but you say“I’ve got CE homework to do today

I got spent figuring outHow forces and moments equilibrate”

Upside down and right from leftThese directions don’t have the clearest sense

We got spent on problem setsMoving at a slow pace where they’re so dense

This building we’re in starts to shakePounds on my pulse like an earthquake

The waves grip my heart on this dayAs the cracks form and propagate

Instead of solving for all the unknownsTake this sunny day

And we'll write each other Valentine poems

I’d start out by saying that I love youAlmost like a proof

And that’s how you’d know it has to be true:
