HistoryHistoryHazira village has a unique and interesting story as to how it was named so. In the past, Hazira was known by the name of ‘Dhal’. It derived this name from the fact that the village had lots of Sand dunes formed on the sea shore that are called ‘dhal’ in colloquial terms. The sea shore used to face huge tides and ebbs. Once, during the British rule, an English Officer had died due to drowning in the sea. His body was buried by the sea shore and a huge mound of sand was laid on his grave. It was from his name, that the village was later renamed as ‘Hazira’.

The Iron Man of India, late Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel had visited the village of Hazira in 1942 to draw a plan for its development and progress. The village also has a 450 year old temple of Singotar, Ashapuri Ma.

My Project MissionMy Project MissionMy aim was to work in an environment that was challenging enough to make me understand the needs and aspects that guide the lifestyle and habitat of our society and the understanding capabilites and education of our workforce. As a future Mechanical Engineer, I would be required to work in the industry and manage huge labour and task teams, hence understanding the nerves of the common working men in India is a must. For this, I had to grasp the basic and root cause of their prevailing conditions and help erode them. Working with underprivileged children in the village is a daunting, yet enriching task and was perfect for my project.

ConclusionConclusionThe people of Hazira village are very much aware and educated about the progress in fields of Education and Livelihood skills. The village has been provided with all the basic amenities and is a model for other villages. The Essar Foundation plays a vital role in doing so, and is essentially the main reason for this progress. It takes care of almost all aspects of basic know-how for the village people and teaches them to utilise their resources and skills in an organised manner for their benefit and profit. The children are eager to learn as they have come to know the requirement of basic education in today’s world. They are aware of the competency in the world outside and are ready and equipped to step out….to make a better world.
