The Zagreb County is an administrative unit that is formally under that name, Zagrabiensis Comitatus, founded in 17th July 1759th when the Empress Maria Theresa gave her emblem and seal. The emblem is still in use today, and mention date

is celebrated as the Day of Zagreb County.

CRAFT HISTORY

• 1355. Croatian brotherhood mentioned in city records• 1884. Craft Act – every town with more than 100

craftsmen should have Craft Association• 1885. Valentin Lambert initiate the establishment

of “Craft Association for Education, Patient Support, Weak, their widows and orphans”

• 1872. Sloboda – Croatian craft and workers singing society

CRAFT 1945 - 1990

• With the political system change, initially craftsmen work was encouraged but then forbidden and all assets was nationalized

• 1949. General Trade Law – all craftsmen under Trade Chamber - craftsmen marginalised

• 1967. Independent Craftsmen Association Zagreb

CRAFT FROM 1990

• With Croatian independence, Union of Croatian Craftsmen Associations (1980.) initiated establishment of Chamber with goal of preserving craftsmen rights

• July 1st 1994, reestablished Croatian Chamber of Trades and Crafts
