CITY GOALS - Expedite The Flow of Geodata to the Public by:

• Establishing horizontal and vertical positions on newly established benchmarks throughout the City of Pismo Beach.

• Provide benchmark information to the Public via hard copy and as a GIS layer.

• Incorporate new Geodata from the private sector into the City of Pismo Beach's GIS.

• Use current staff to minimize cost.

OBJECTIVESSURVEY TEAM GOALSDefendable, Accessible, Reliable - DAR

• Utilize existing standards and best practices in the Science of Geomatics, Traditional Land Surveying, and GIS Mapping to produce High Quality mapping deliverables. • Utilize technological advances in GPS and available online information for locating and measuring points on the surface of the earth – CGPS/CORS data & RTN networks.

• Provide Primary Control tied to the latest Horizontal and Vertical Datums using California standards for GPS measurements. (45 points total)

• Provide Secondary Control tied to newly established Primary Control using NGS standards governing RTK/RTN procedures. (145 points total)

• Provide Efficient and Cost Effective services and data to the City of Pismo Beach.

MAPPING & DATUMSHorizontal Datum

Horizontal accuracies to comply with California Public Resources Code 8856 having a positional accuracy of two centimeters or better.

Benchmarks and GIS mapping referenced to the California Coordinate System 1983, CCS83, (epoch 2011), Zone 5.

Vertical Datum

Vertical accuracies to comply with California Public Resources Code 8858 having a positional accuracy of five centimeters or better.

Benchmarks and GIS mapping referenced to the North American Vertical Datum of 1988 (NAVD88) through ties to established local benchmarks within the City of Pismo Beach.

GIS Data

GIS Layer containing the newly established benchmark locations incorporated into a geodatabase along with attributes with spatial links to field notes and digital imagery for each point.

TECHNIQUES AND EQUIPMENT USED

Primary Control

Primary benchmarks observed for 30 minutes using Trimble R8 model 3 GNSS receiver and post-processed using Trimble Business Center software version 2.5 along with CORS stations USLO, P516, and P513 .

Least Squares adjustment processed using Trimble Business Center software version 2.5; Residuals printed and included in the surveyor's report.

45 Primary Control Points Located.

TECHNIQUES AND EQUIPMENT USED

Secondary Control

NGS Field Guidelines for RTK/RTN GPS measurements followed. http://www.ngs.noaa.gov/PUBS_LIB/NGSRealTimeUserGuidelines.v2.0.4.pdf

Secondary benchmarks observed for (two) 3 minutes occupations using Trimble R8 model 3 GNSS receiver and post-processed using Least Squares using Trimble Business Center software version 2.5; Residuals printed and included in the surveyor's report.

145 Secondary Points Located.
