1 Memory Markers (2006), (e3)

Artist: Anne Neil.Corner Barrack Street and The Esplanade.Memory Markers was inspired by the process of recording and documenting history and the written memories of Stirling Gardens, the State’s first botanical gardens.

2 Urban Reflections: Percy in the Mirror (2006), (e2)Artist: The Smith Sculptors. Hay Street Mall. Percy Buttons, was a well known street performer of the 1920s – 50s who entertained the public whilst they waited in queues to see movies and theatre shows.

3 Kangaroos (1997), (e3)Artist: The Smith Sculptors.St George’s Terrace near the corner of Barrack Street. These life size bronze kangaroos are a realistic representation of how kangaroos might behave in the bush and make a surprising contrast to the backdrop of the city.

4 Between 1979 – 1980 (1981), (d2)Artist: Clement Meadmore. Cultural Centre, James Street.Standing against the city skyline is this geometric modern sculpture implies a lightness that belies the massive weight of the steel sections.

8 The Impossible Triangle (1999), (G1) Artist: Brian MacKay & Ahmad Abas. Claisebrook round-about. The Impossible Triangle is a geometric phenomenon, that when viewed from a specific position creates the illusion of a perfect triangle.

9 Ngango Batta’s Mooditcher (Sunbeam’s Living Strength) (1997), (h1)Artist: Toogar Morrison. Victoria Gardens.The Claisebrook bank of the Derbarl Yerrigan (Swan River) has always been a sacred meeting place for the Noongar people. A dreaming track meanders along the water’s edge.

10 Willem de Vlamingh Memorial Statue (2007), (e3)Artist: The Smith Sculptors Barrack SquareThis memorial commemorates the epic voyage from Amsterdam, of Willem de Vlamingh and his fleet who mapped the west coast of Australia in 1697. A giant sundial with two clock faces showing Perth time and Amsterdam time is a living link in space and time between Holland and Australia.

11 Channel markers, posts and seats (1995), (G1)Artist: Malcolm McGregor.Claisebrook Cove.Inspired by the channel markers used to aid in river navigation and constructed from jarrah timber salvaged from the demolition of warehouses on the site.

12 Peter Pan Statue (1929), (G2)Artist: George Frampton. Queens Gardens, Corner Hay & Plain Streets.A replica of the famous original statue in Kensington Gardens, London and a gift to the children of Perth.

13 Tree of Symbols (2002), (G2)Artist: Kevin Draper. Cnr Hay Street & Forrest Ave.Constructed using hand-forged and welded steel, the five metre sculpture takes the form of a wrought iron Banksia tree.

14 Yagan (1984), (h4)Artist: Robert Hitchcock.Heirisson Island.This statue was installed to commemorate Yagan, a courageous Noongar tribal leader.

15 The Sea Queen (1995), (G1)Artists: Tony Jones, with Matt Dickmann.Claisebrook Cove.The artist’s childhood, learning to sail, playing, swimming and fishing in the Swan River was inspiration for this work constructed from recycled jarrah and old boat parts.

16 Eliza (2007 ), (c5)Artists: Tony Jones and Ben Jones.Crawley Bay.Eliza is a reminder of the Crawley baths, built in 1914 and central to aquatic activities in Perth as a training pool for many champions, a centre for swimming, lifesaving and recreation. The baths were demolished in 1964 with the advent of modern ‘Olympic’ style pools.
