What if I move?

If you move, do NOT take the 96-gallon cart(s) with you. Please notify us of your move.

Disability Assistance

While carts are usually easier to move to their collection spot, some may have difficulty. If you have a disability, please call our office so that we can review your needs.

Public Safety

Refuse collection can be hazardous. Make sure that children stay clear of curbside refuse and collection trucks. Curbside refuse should not impede pedestrian walkways or public thorough-fares.

Containers must be at your curbside the night before your scheduled service day.

1. Bags/Tree limbs outside of the container must not weigh more than 30 pounds. Cut limbs into 3’

sections or less. 2. Paint containers must be empty or solidified prior to being picked up. (Use kitty

litter or sand to solidify left over paint). 3. Glass (window panes, storm doors, etc.) must be broken

up and placed in a taped box marked glass. 4. Liquids (i.e. thinners, oil, acids),

5. Medical Waste (i.e. oxygen tanks, needles), tires and propane tanks are not acceptable materials

for pick up. 6. ALL boxes need to be broken down, and placed in your 96 gallon cart for pick up.

Holiday Schedule

This schedule applies for all residential services (trash and recycle).

Republic Services will observe the following Holidays:

New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day

We will NOT be servicing Residential customers on these Holidays. We will be adjusting our service schedule by one day. For example, if the Holiday is on a Monday, the service would be as follows:

Monday service will occur on TUESDAY Tuesday service will occur on WEDNESDAY Wednesday service will occur on THURSDAY Thursday service will occur on FRIDAY Friday service will occur on SATURDAY

If the Holiday is on a Tuesday, the service would be as follows: Monday service will occur on MONDAY – no change Tuesday service will occur on WEDNESDAY Wednesday service will occur on THURSDAY Thursday service will occur on FRIDAY Friday service

Wrong material can shut down new equipment

We appreciate all your efforts to recycle more! However, coat hangers, garden hoses and other wrong material can lead to the equipment having to be shutdown, delaying the process and idling or injuring workers. Please use the Recycle Containers correctly. Below are items that should not go into the Recycle Containers and options for proper disposal.

Chains, Swing-set pieces or any other pieces of metal, metal coat hangers Batteries (household, car, ATV, and lawnmower), car parts and rims There is a drop-off box for metal at the Gose Pike Convenience Center 238-1106, Hours M-S 7am – 5pm . Garden hoses, extension cords, ropes or leashes, cookware, knives, pie pans, plastic clothes hangers These can wrap around or jam the recycling equipment and cause jam. Put them in the Solid Waste Container

Tarps, blankets and clothing These items can get tangled in the recycling equipment and cause jams. Donate them to a charity or put them in the Solid Waste Container.

Plastic lawn chairs, laundry baskets, trash cans, plastic toys, and buckets (e.g. kitty litter) If items are unbroken, donate to a charity. If broken, place in your Solid Waste Container. Find a use for the kitty litter buckets or put them in your Solid Waste Container.

Needles Used needles/syringes should be securely enclosed in a container such as a coffee can or milk jug and placed in the Solid Waste Container. Used needles are a biohazard and a health risk to Recycle Center workers.

Electronics Electronic items such as computers, cell phones, radios and accessories can be dropped off for recycling at the Gose Pike Convenience Center 238-1106 Hours M-S 7am – 5pm

RECYCLING:

Residence

Boyle County Department of Solid Waste Management will be upgrading the Recycling areas of all its Convenience Centers. Please bear with us as this transformation takes place. Our intention is to make recycling drop-off safe, convenient, and help to pay for itself. With your assistance and cooperation in recycling drop-off we can divert solid waste cost and increase revenue through recycling commodities. If you need assistance or have questions please speak with one of our operators, they are there to assist you. Boyle County thanks you for recycling.

Out-of-County Residence

Boyle County Convenience Centers cannot accept your solid waste; call your County Solid Waste Coordinator for your County Solid Waste Options. But we can assist out-of-county residents, especially those at our boarders or working in Boyle County, by reducing their solid waste through recycling. Any out–of-county residents can drop-off any recycle material accepted at our Centers. This can help to keep your solid waste disposal cost down whether you pay by the bag or the ton. We welcome your participation and thank you for recycling.

For-Profit Business and Industry

Boyle County Convenience Centers cannot accept your solid waste for disposal; call or e-mail Angela Muncy, Director of Solid Waste if you need assistance with locating Solid Waste Haulers that are registered and permitted in Boyle County. We can assist you by reducing your Solid Waste Stream through Recycling. Small for-profit businesses such as rental property management, electricians, plumbers, carpenters ECT can drop-off your recycled material such as cardboard, appliances, and metal. Businesses and Industry that generate a large amount of any type of recycled material accepted in the Boyle County Recycling program please call the Boyle County Department of Solid Waste Management for scheduled drop-off at the main Recycle Center at 1862 South Danville By-Pass. We have free paper shredding with document destruction certificate and recycling weight documentation for your corporate office to track your solid waste reduction percentage. When the material is brought into the MRF trucks dump the material on the floor. Looseshredded paper would be hard to capture, but in bags the operators can separate and maintainthe quality of the product?

13. My apartment complex is littered with unused recycle containers because we all useone until it is full and then go to the next. We never fill them all, what can we do?

Have your landlord or apartment manager call M & M 859-936-0957 and they will pick up anyunused or unwanted container.

14. What if I have more recyclables than my container can hold before my next pick-upday?

You can put your excess material next to the container in a paper bag, cardboard box, orplastic tote. If you regularly produce more than your container can hold, call M & M andrequest another container, there is no extra charge.

15. Will the container be very heavy once it’s full?

The design of the new containers provides leverage to assist maneuvering.Many residents have found this makes using a cart easier than lifting a filled 18-gallon bin or

box of recyclables.

16. What if weather conditions cause my recycle can top to blow open?

Use a brick or rock to hold it down. Allowing water to get into the container can cause thepaper to degrade.

17. Can I recycle caps, lids, and plastic bags?

No. Caps, lids, and plastic bags cannot be recycled curbside. Plastic bags can be recycled at your grocery store or Gose Pike Convenience Center.

18. Should I remove the labels on my bottles, cans and jars?

No, you can leave the labels on.

19. Should I rinse my bottles, cans and jars?

Yes. Conserve water by using dish water, bath water or rain water.

20. Where can I recycle books?

Books can be recycled at the curb if you rip off the hard cover and rip out the pages so it is notso thick and you can just drop them off whole at the Gose Pike Convenience Center, or donateto charity.

Waxy paper boxes are paper boxes that can be refrigerated or frozen such as frozen pizza andsoda boxes. They cannot be recycled at the curb. But, you can recycle soda and beer boxesat the Gose Pike Convenience Center Pike 859-238-1106
