A Community Vision

Pleasant Grove is a city where volunteers accomplish impossibletasks. In 1969 the Sportsmen Club asked the Lions Club to help witha community vision: the Sportsmen – Lions Club Civic Center. TheSportsmen Club dreamed of an indoor shooting range. The LionsClub dreamed of a place where people could meet for social eventsand entertainment. The demolition of the “Old Vineyard Church”on Geneva Road provided materials for the construction of theSportsmen – Lions Civic Center at 610 East Center Street. Trusses, windows, doors, cupboards and wood flooring were recycled fromthe old church and used. This monumental project, by both clubs, took place from 1969-1974. Pictures and descriptions about thebuilding and construction are on our web site at https://www.facebook.com/pleasantgrovelionsclub. Pleasant Grove City, thank you for acknowledging the importance of this building in thecommunity.

Thank you to the veterans who participated in our Strawberry DaysParade entry. You reminded us of the good things in life: ourfreedom, our nation, our community and our families. As acommunity, we honor you.

Remember to donate your used eye glasses at our collection boxesat the Lindon Walmart, Pleasant Grove City Library, Copy Tec, andPleasant Grove Senior Center. Mark your calendars for the HeritageFestival, Monday, September 16.
