    Staff Presentation:

    Mrs. White stated that based on sound planning practices, Planning staff recommended R(C)-12-23 be APPROVED with the proffer as listed in the official agenda.

    Proponent:

    Reverend Hal Jones, 700 Mt. Pleasant Road, Chesapeake, Virginia, appeared before the Commission on behalf of R(C)-12-23 representing Great Bridge Christian Academy.

    Grady Palmer, Wooten & Shaddock, PLC, 1435 Crossways Boulevard, Suite 303, Chesapeake, Virginia, appeared before the Commission on behalf of R(C)-12-23 representing Great Bridge Child Care.

    COMMISSION DISCUSSION:

    Commissioner Kish was concerned about the safety of the students, teachers, and parents getting in and out of the school. There has been some discussion that they could have another exit from the property, if approved by the City at some point. In time, he hoped the church school and City would continue to look at the safety of getting in and out of the school to ensure safety to all.

    Commissioner Perry moved that R(C)-12-23 be APPROVED without the proffer. Commissioner Van Laethem seconded the motion. The motion was carried by a vote of 8-0. Commissioner Bell was excused.
