The building on the property was also inspected for mold and preliminary results in the shop area indicate there may be mold in the insulation. A sample was sent to a lab. If the results show that there is mold that must be removed, then the insulation in the shop would have to be re-moved, the shop treated for mold and then insulated again.

“Again, that’s not con-firmed,” said Giesbrect. “We have no tests back on that yet.”

October 24, 1919 John Otness, superintendent of the local light plant, and Hans Runstad, owner of the fish boat Reliance, were both granted their full naturalization papers in the Ketchikan court last week. The two men passed excellent examinations. They returned early this week from there, accompanied by L. J. Israelson, city councilman, who had gone south as a witness.

October 20, 1944 Starting out right by purchasing the most War Stamps, the Grade school outshone the High school 92 per cent at the weekly War Stamp sale last Friday. Allowing the buying of stamps to slide along has been the custom of the Senior High students in the past. Now all will have their chance to make up for this at the War Stamp sales today.

October 22, 1969 This week the biggest plane to land on the Petersburg Airport to date is an Air Force turboprop cargo ship. It was bringing in equipment for a series of tests at the Experimental Fur Farm. The tests deal with the effect of sonic booms on animals. The plane made two trips here.

October 27, 1994 More than 200 people attended the Rain Country Quilters’ annual quilt show at PHS. Myris Fryer’s machine-pieced and hand-quilted “Log Cabin Sampler” won the show’s

Viewer’s Choice award. Twenty quilts were auctioned at the show, with the benefits going to the quilters’ organization for its programs and social services projects.
