Prerequisites

To be able to use Citrix publishing in a Citrix Cloud environment, the following Citrix Remote PowerShell SDK

must be installed at least on the windows client where the Workspace Control Console is used to configure the

Citrix Cloud environment and publish applications. This SDK and documentation can be found through:

https://www.Citrix.com/blogs/2016/07/01/introducing-remote-powershell-sdk-v2-for-Citrix-cloud/

Furthermore, the following information must be present before configuring the Citrix Cloud environment in the

Console:

Customer ID

Client ID

Client Secret (API Key)

The Customer ID should be provided for you by Citrix. See also the next paragraph about how to create the Client ID and API key.

Note: Only ONE Citrix Cloud environment (therefore one site name) can be configured. Workspace Control

does NOT support multiple site names for Citrix Cloud solutions. Furthermore, Citrix Cloud cannot be combined

with an on-premise version of Citrix XenApp/XenDesktop in the same Workspace Control datastore.

It is recommended to also install the Citrix Remote PowerShell SDK and Workspace Control 10.3.90.0 on one or

more VDA servers, so that remote publishing can be done.

If a Relay Server configuration is used, also install or upgrade to the 10.3.90.0 version of the Relay Server, this

is required to be able to perform remote publishing through a server.

Creating the Cloud API key

To create the Client ID and the API Key, go to the Citrix Cloud Environment, use the menu to go to Identity and

Access Management and select the API Access tab. Within this tab, select Create Client to create a new

client id and an API key. Save this information, together with the customer ID.

When Creating New Client using Identity and Access Management > API Access > Create Client, a pop-up

will be shown that contains the Client ID and Client Secret.

Please save this information to a file, this information is needed afterward.

Configuring the Citrix Cloud environment

After starting the Workspace Control Console, browse to Setup > Application Virtualization > Citrix XenApp

Publishing.

If the requirements (SDK installed, the registry key is set) are done, a new tab Citrix XenApp Cloud will be

shown:

Click on this tab, and fill in your Customer ID, Client ID, and the Client Secret.

Note: this will be shown as a hidden value (internally this will be stored as an encrypted value in the datastore)

Next, press the Test Citrix Cloud connection button once to retrieve the Site Name for this configuration:

This Cloud Site Name will be stored in the database by this action. This needs to be done once.

It is recommended to refresh the delivery groups in the Defaults tab. This will get all defined delivery groups

from the Citrix Cloud environment:

The preferred delivery group(s) can now be selected from the left column into the right column.

This completes the configuration process. From this point on, publishing and unpublishing applications can be

performed the same way as previously for XenApp 7.

Configuring Servers for remote publishing

A Citrix Cloud environment does not have delivery controllers as a classic XenApp 7 environment would have. If

you want to configure other servers to be able to do remote publishing it is enough to install the Remote

PowerShell SDK and restart the Workspace Control Service once.

Remote publishing works on all available types of Ivanti Workspace Control installations as long as the Citrix

SDK is available on that machine.

There is no need to have admin access to the Citrix Cloud when publishing from the Ivanti Workspace Console.

Nor does the service have to run on an account that has Admin access to the Citrix Cloud environment.

Disabling Citrix Cloud feature

In the Citrix XenApp Cloud tab (in the Workspace Control Console), the Citrix Cloud feature can be disabled by

unchecking the Use the following Secure Client… checkbox.

This will disable the Citrix Cloud publishing capability only. The configured information will be retained in the

datastore.

Which web addresses are used for remote publishing?

Workspace Control only interacts with the Citrix Remote PowerShell SDK. The actual publishing is handled by

this SDK. The connectivity requirements can be found at https://docs.citrix.com/en-us/citrix-

cloud/overview/requirements/internet-connectivity-requirements.html.

For remote publishing, Citrix advises allow access to the addresses of the following sections:

• Citrix Workspace

• Virtual Apps and Desktops service

Depending on the Citrix features that are used, not all addresses might be applicable. Please contact Citrix to

get the best advice of which addresses apply exactly to your scenario.

This is the overview of addresses as published on December 5th 2018
