Step 1 - Visit SiteAfter an initial inquiry, Volta sends out an operations team to asses the proposed location.
Step 2 - Proposal The Volta team prepares a proposal with a site-map and renderings for the site.
Step 3 - Agreement The site host and Volta sign a service agreement.
Step 4 - PermitVolta works with the host and the local municipality to obtain an EV Charging Station permit for that location.
FAQsHow do you offer this amenity for free?The free EV Charging service is provided by Volta sponsors. Volta partners with select brands who seek to contribute services that are meaningful to the community. Hosts benefit with no-cost installation and sustainable maintenance while citizens get open-access and friction-free EV Charging.
Are the stations part of a network?Yes. Volta stations are part of the Volta urban networks. Volta seeds and grows regional networks starting with areas of highest EV penetration. Current networks are in California, Hawaii, Illinois, Arizona, Washington and Oregon.
What happens if a station malfunctions?If such an event occurs, drivers are very quick to call the 1-800-number on the side of every station. We can also detect malfunctions through our networked system and send out a local team member for repairs. And, of course, every site host has a single point of contact at Volta to report any issues.
I already have an EV charging station from another provider. Can Volta stations coexist with other stations? Yes. Volta stations can coexist with other stations. Volta stations charge all plug-in vehicles universally with no authentication needed.
Do you offer Level 3 “quick charge” stations?Since Volta stations are not intended to be used in the same way as a gas station, they provide convenience Level 2 charging (240 volts with a 30-amp current). This equates to 50 miles of electric range within a 2-hour charging session.

Step 5 - Prepare Site Volta’s local certified team prepares the installation site with appropriate trenching and wiring.
Step 6 - Installation Volta installs the station.
Step 7 - SignageVolta installs the proper signage in accordance with local regulations and guidelines.
Step 8 - ChargeFollowing final inspection, stations are poweredand citizens can park and charge!
