CITIZENS’ POLICE ACADEMY The Boynton Beach Police Department is proud to announce the Citizens’ Police Academy program. This community-oriented program is designed to educate area citizens and business people by providing an insider's perspective of police work and the legal system. During the ten (10) week / thirty (30) hour program, department personnel as well as other experts in the criminal justice field will instruct participants. Topics range from the Recruiting Process, functions of the Uniform Services, Investigative Services, and Specialized Units to Community Policing efforts, Criminal Law, Narcotic and Dangerous Drug Awareness and much more. Some classes will include actual demonstrations by instructors specialized in Defensive Tactics, Traffic Stops, and hands-on Simulated Shooting. Ride-Along and Live Fire programs are offered to participants. Certificates of Achievement, Graduation Pins and other gifts will be awarded to the Graduates. The Boynton Beach Police Department is an organization that has grown and changed to meet the needs of policing a complex and diverse community. Guided by Community Policing efforts, the department has become a modern and dynamic professional organization, dedicated to providing the best police service possible to our community. The Citizens’ Police Academy is just one of many innovative programs developed to serve the community of Boynton Beach. This program is offered, free of charge, to residents and business owners / operators of the City of Boynton Beach and West Boynton Communities.
