History of

• Founded in 1812 as the City Bank of New York

• Managed by Moses Taylor

• In 1863, City Bank became the National City Bank of New York.

• By 1868, it was one of the largest banks in the USA.

• The name was shorten later on to Citi Bank.

• In order to avoid confusion with other National City Banks such as Ohio’s National City Bank
