The course will be offered in Kenyatta University Main Campus, City campus, Mombasa Campus, Nakuru Campus, Nyeri Campus,Kericho Campus and Embu Campus. Mode of Learning - The courses start on 20 th January 2014. The students are expected to attend four hour of training each day during weekdays for a period of four weeks. The four hours each day will include both theory and practical lessons. IT Essentials The following topics will be covered in the course: Personal computers Safe Lab Procedures and Tool use Computer Assembly Preventative Maintenance and Troubleshooting Operating Systems Networks Laptops and Portable Devices Mobile Devices Printers & Security The IT Professional Advanced Troubleshooting Qualifications All those students who did not take Computer Studies in high school and obtained a mean grade of D+(plus)in the MOCKS and with at least D(plain) in Mathematics and English.

Chapter 9: Subnetting IP Networks

Chapter 10: Application Layer

Chapter 11: It’s a Network

Qualifications

All students who have done Computer studies as an option in High School and obtained a mean grade of C-(Minus) In the MOCKS and with at least D(plain)in Mathematics or Physics or C- (minus) in Computer Studies

The charges per module are as follows in Kenya shillings

Tuition: Kshs 11,000 Registration : Kshs 2,000

CCNA Security

The CCNA security certification lays the foundation for job rules such as network security specialist, network security administrator and network security support engineer.

The following courses will be covered;

Modern network security threats

Securing network devices

Authentication ,Authorization and accounting

Implementing Firewall Technologies

Implementing Intrusion detecting & prevention

Securing the Local Area Network.

Implementing virtual private networks

Managing a secure network

Implementing the Cisco Adaptive Security Appliance (ASA)

Qualifications

One should have successfully completed CCNA 1-4

Registration fees for the course is Ksh.2,000

Tuition fee for the course is Ksh.25,000

Course duration is 8 weeks

Mode of Application

(a) Application forms can be obtained from Kenyatta University, admissions Block Room No.012 or at the Regional Centers located in Nairobi, Embu, Nyeri, Garrissa Mombasa, Nakuru, Kisumu and Kakamega on payment of a non-refundable fee of Kshs.2, 000/-for East Africans and Kshs 3,500/-for candidates from outside East Africa. This money should be deposited into any one of the following accounts

Copies of MOCK results for Form IV Leavers and KCSE certificates and registration fee receipt MUST be attached to the Application form.
