Basic info about Chess in Schools (CiS) Slovakia
• Kick off of the CiS – april 2011 – SVK YCH Bad Sliač• Project initiators – Slovak Chess Federation, FIDE• Project Aims:
1. To teach as more kids as possible to play CHESS and use it as an educative tool to MAKE THEM SMARTER.2. Motivate kids to meaningfull spending of their leisure time as a prevention against harmful addictions.3. Increasing of the membership SŠZ, FIDE4. Searching for the talents a provide them adecuate support

Material is lend to school/LTC for FREE for unlimited time on the condition that their chess course still continues.
With support of FIDE and their Chess in Schools Comission we obtained altogether 6000 chess sets and 250 demo boards.
We have already registrated about 270schools/LTC.
Children can buy 10 € premium package PSM, which contains 1 book, 1-year FED membership, welcome CiS letter, ID card and different online services.
We had about 700 PSM children and altogether about 2100 SM registrations so far.

What is expected from the Chess teachers?
1. FIDE, SVK FED, chess clubs : increasing of members, mainly those who will stay and pay , registration
2. School/LTC : safety and responsibility for children, administration, better behauvior and school results as general
3. Parents : safety, reliability of the chess teacher, meaningfull leisure time for their kids, results (!race horses!)
4. Trainer/Coach : competitions, chess improving, success
(5.) 1. KID expects• Positive emotions, rewards, attendace and
respect of parents, trainers and other adults
• Meeting of old friends, making of new ones, sightseeing of new places

GPX for Youth in Slovakia- a practical example of a good idea
From the rules of competition:- 10 years history- for children 14 y.-o. and younger, rapids 7-9 rounds (1 day events)- common tournaments, 6 cathegories (B/G08, B/G11, B/G14)- for beginners (at the start of season their max. Rtg 1400)- Basic part (from October till May) - points: the last one gets 1 point, winner gets n points + bonuses (like in F1:
40-32-26-22-18,...)- even the last gets some prize, low cost (max. 3€ fee)- 6 best results of each player is taken to summary account - TOP 9 from every cathegory + 1 wild card advances to the next stage. - 3 Regional Semifinals (Begin of June) - National Final (Mid of June) - almost every year unique winners
