Meditation is quite cunning and very powerful. When you allow it to control you, rather thanyou control it, your conditioned thoughts ofnegativity restrict your sensuality andsexuality...and your very life-force. Because ofthis conditioning, you do not surrender to yoursexual nature, thinking that sex and pleasure iswrong, and not spiritual, and that it is

blasphemy against God. When you listen to themind you cannot discover the joy and ecstasythat you could be experiencing if you were totruly let go. Spiritual sex has little to do withany appearances of "holier-than-thou"stereotypes. In fact, holding on to yourconditioned view of spiritual sex limits the

possibilities of it being used as a spiritual tool.Contemporary lovers call is the "vibes" theyhave for each other. Poets and pornographersaddress it yet differently. You are on earth in abody, not to transcend your humanness, but tounderstand and honor and love yourself as youare in form, as a true spiritual being. As you letgo and become one with your lover, what takesplace a union between your Divinity and yourearthly animal being Lust and love are notenemies waging battle against each another. They indeed cry for union. When you surrender, the battle ends. Sexuality is a doorway intobliss. If you release your view of conditionedsex, you will enter into a dimension of pure

ecstasy. As you continue the dance ofuninhibited sexuality, you will enter into a stateof consciousness that goes beyond mind. It ishere that you can touch the face of God I callthis unconditional love. As you fully embraceyour pure animal nature, a magical embracing

From a beetle being sliced in half with a razorblade to a scene in which Adolph literally bitesthe head off a small lizard, only strongstomachs need apply! Getting through theviolence is one thing, managing to survive thedisturbing dream sequences laced with bizarrecomedic undertones is another. One particularsequence that comes to mind involves adolf

urinating over the side of a building, only toimagine the whole town drowning in an oceanof his own urine! Not to mention the fact thatanother scene will cause you to never look atspaghetti and meatballs the same way everagain! As fantastic as it all sounds it's all herefor your viewing pleasure. a sparkling

anamorphic widescreen transfer. There are onlyminimal amounts of print damage present(mostly the occasional spec or film dirt). Grainis almost nonexistent and colors are extremelysharp and vivid. Bear in mind that some of thedream/fantasy sequences were meant to begrainy and scratchy and remain so during thispresentation. This disc is really a wonder tobehold,

the oddest examples of a celebrity interview Ihave ever seen. In between his off colorcomments Arrabal picks up a chair and swings itaround as well as removing a shoe and sniffingthe inside only to remark on how good it smells.Yeah right! I hate to use the term whack job,but yeah, I guess most geniuses are whackjobs. Other extras include a trailer for Arrabal's

second film I Will Walk Like a Crazy Horse (dueout in a few months on DVD from Cult Epics aswell) and a brief still gallery of promotionallobby cards. The entire package is rounded offwith a fold out booklet with interesting linernotes. Fans of the Spanish surrealist movement(or any surrealist movements for that matter!)

will be overjoyed by this release. Fans ofJodorowsky etc. Will probably find a lot to like inthis moving masterpiece. Cult Epics has done atremendous job with this title, and I eagerlyawait the release of I Will Walk Like a CrazyHorse.

And the same frontier spirit ofindependence and diligence. See it on a map ofChilean & Argentinean outdoor attractions(#16). What's There Tierra del Fuego is

surrounded on three sides by two oceans. Thewinds blow this way from the Pacific, and thatway from the Atlantic, constantly bringingclouds and rain storms. The coastal wildlife isrich and diverse, with many sea birds, and sealsand walruses. On the interior, North Americanbeavers, Arctic reindeer, and European rabbits,

all introduced by white settlers as cash crops, have distorted the rivers and streams anddevastated the local flora. And local sheepfarmers, convinced that the native duck andgeese, and their natural predators, native foxes, were too much competition for their flocks, have also done much damage to the localfauna. You'll need to read this more than once.OK? Good. Now, take a deep breath and life ofthe modern slave -- the slave of the factory, thesweatshop, and the mine. by picturesque villains nor does he die inecstasies of religious faith. His religion is butanother snare of the oppressors, and thebitterest of his misfortunes; the hounds thathunt him are disease and accident, and thevillain who murders him is merely the prevailingrate of wages. And who can thrill the readerwith the tale of a man-hunt, in which the

hunted is a lousy and ignorant foreigner, andthe hunters are the germs of consumption, diphtheria, and typhoid? Who can make aromance out of the story of a man whose onelife adventure is the scratching of a finger by aninfected butcher-knife, with a pine box and apauper's grave as the dnouement? And yet it

may be just as painful to die of blood-poisoningas to be beaten to death; to be tracked bybloodhounds and torn to pieces is mostcertainly a merciful fate compared to that whichfalls to thousands every year in Packingtown --to be hunted for life by bitter poverty, to be illclothed and badly housed, to be weakened bystarvation, cold and exposure, to be laid low bysickness or accident -- and then to lie andwatch while the gaunt wolf of hunger creeps inupon you and gnaws out the heart of you, andtears up the bodies and souls of your wife andbabies." The Appeal to Reason (Socialist), ofGirard, Kan., in commenting along the sameline upon the scant attention paid to the laborer

in Packingtown, observes: "It seems that thepublic becomes enraged only when deliberatemurder is planned and actually done upon itself. It seems to me that not less important andalarming are

the conditions which indicate the existence inAmerica of a serfdom not less abject than inDarkest Russia. If such a slavery were possiblein packinghouses under our blessed capitalism, then it is certainly possible in all our corporateindustries, and the contention of Socialists thatthere does exist under the present system ofwages and profit a tyranny as oppressive as

ever welded shackles to limbs of freemen isjustified." In looking for arguments orstatements from the packers' side we haveexamined Mr. J. Ogden Armour's recent book,"The Packers, the Private Car Lines, and thePeople," but Mr. Armour does not treat thesubject of labor. Fans of surrealist cinema like

that of Alejandro Jodorowsky will be overjoyedwith this release of Fernando Arrabal's firstfeature Viva La Muerte (Long Live Death). Quiteoften upsetting and over the top, it's also anextremely beautiful and fulfilling film (to say theleast) at the same time. Part of the artisticPanic Movement described as "an amorphouscombination of burlesque, surrealist actions andart" Viva La Muerte is an important piece to thepuzzle of world cinema, and I'm ecstatic to havethis title on DVD. Cult Epics has really steppedup to the plate on this one giving us aremarkable presentation of a most remarkablefilm. Young Fando lives with his mother, and thetwo share a special relationship. Told that his

father was arrested for treason (and eventuallyexecuted), Fando discovers evidence in theform of a letter that his mother may indeedhave been the one that actually turned him in.Unable to believe

Marco Polo embarks on a journey to try and findout the truth behind the lies he has been told. The story is presented in real time clips as wellas inventive flashbacks. Throughout the story, there are also multi colored dream/fantasysequences (using video footage and gels) whichallow the viewer to delve into the psyche ofthese most unique characters even further.

Outrageous, gritty, shocking, over the top andbrilliant these are all words that can be usedto describe Long Live Death and still will not dothe film any amount of justice whatsoever. Thestory comes complete with characters that justscream pain and agony, is understood andsearching for some kind of truth or meaning.

Children are really the centerpiece of the film, children that are trapped in a world ofcorruption, revolt and corporal punishment inschools. You will feel emotionally drained andexhausted after watching this film, it's not aneasy experience not easy, but wholly fulfilling. While some scenes of onscreen violence are wasnot to expose "the condemned-meat industry,"but rather to "make the average Americansympathize with the story of the foreign-bornwage-slave in Packingtown." "I do not wish tobe ungracious," he adds, "but I fear that 'Thejungle' would have been much longer in doingits work had its appeal been simply to thehearts and consciences of its readers and not at

all to their stomachs." He goes on: "And yet weare tied up in the same country with thesestrangers, and their fate is our fate; the wayour country goes in the future depends uponwhat opportunities and what life we give them. They are coming here at the rate of a million a

year, and if we think that we can allow them tobe beaten and degraded without limit, and notpay a fearful penalty for it ourselves, we make

a great mistake. "The whole country is at thismoment struggling against the power of thetrusts. You yourself are suffering from theirencroachments and are fighting to free yourself. And it is the power of the political machinewhich holds you down; and the power of themachine is founded upon the foreign vote, which is bought.... "About twelve years ago old

    P. D. Armour, at the close of a great strike, haddeclared with an oath that he would fix thepopulation of Packingtown so that it wouldnever call a strike upon him again; and so hehad set his agents at work to bring out hordesof emigrants from Eastern Europe --Lithuanians, Poles, Bohemians, and Slovaks. I

met dozens of men who had come as a directresult of his endeavor. Strangers had come totheir village -- men who spoke their ownlanguage and were familiar with their ideas, andwho told wonderful tales about free Americaand about the great packing-factories and thetremendous wages that were paid there. Onecould get over for almost nothing, forarrangements had been made with thesteamship company, and so they had sold outall that they owned and come, sometimes wholefamilies of them, sometimes half a dozenfamilies from a single village. They had pouredinto Packingtown, one swarm after another; andas a result old P. D. Armour had had all the

labor he could use and had beaten down wagesto the starvation point and made himself one ofthe richest men in America and his son one ofthe half-dozen masters of the destiny of theAmerican people." These ignorant strangers, headds, "had been plundered from the moment

they left their native village." On every handthey are cheated and preyed upon by grafters,real-estate sharks, and what not. Mr. Sinclair

condenses a section of "The Jungle," showinghow houses are sold to immigrants on theinstallment plan and then taken from them, after hundreds of dollars have been paid in, forinability to pay an installment at a certain time.He continues: "The typical tenement-house inPackingtown is a two-story frame buildinghaving four small rooms on a floor. A floor will

be rented by a family, which will then take inboarders to help make expenses. Single men, ofwhom there are large numbers, occasionallyrent a flat for themselves. Most of the Poles andSlavs with whom I talked said that they weresaving up money to get away from Americabecause the work was too hard for them to

stand. They live sometimes as many as thirteenin a room, renting a room and employing awoman to cook for them cooperatively. Theyhave mattresses spread on the floor, coveredwith blankets which are never changed untilthey wear out; and frequently the samemattress is owned by a day man and a nightman and thus never gets a chance to get cold. The filth and vermin in these rooms are, ofcourse, beyond any words; and, needless tosay, in the winter time no fresh air ever getsinto the building. Living in homes such as this, and working ten or twelve hours a day underterrific pressure -- and liable to work fourteen inrush season -- the men have very little vitality

left, and know no way to spend their moneyexcept in drink.... "When I had finished 'TheJungle' I went through it and cut out everythingthat sounded like preaching. Here is one of theparagraphs which I cut out -- the beststatement I can make upon this question:
