TOUR INCLUSIONS A Day of Scenic Touring

Guided Tours of Three Antebellum Homes: Twin Oaks, The Burn, and Choctaw Hall A Delicious Lunch included at “The Castle” Inside of Dunlieth Mansion

Services of a Historic Natchez Tour Guide Luxury Motorcoach Transportation

This morning, our Senior Circle Members will enjoy a grand southern tradition as we journey to historic Natchez, Mississippi to experience their Summer Tour! We depart at 9:00 a.m. from Merit’s CMMC Campus, and will pick up our fellow travelers in Vicksburg, at Merit River Region Medical Center, as we make our way to beautiful Natchez! We will enjoy a relaxing stretch of road heading towards Natchez, located on the bluffs overlooking “Old Man River” – The Mighty Mississippi. We will arrive at the Natchez Visitor’s Center for refreshments and an interesting museum inside, including a short film about the history of this Mississippi gem. Our group has the opportunity to celebrate Natchez’ 300th Birthday during this tour! We will meet our step-on-guide that will share some history and sites of Natchez as we enjoy touring three homes today. But, our first stop will be a delightful southern lunch at “The Castle” located at Dunleith Mansion; enjoy a delicious buffet with a selection of entrees and vegetables; plus iced tea and dessert included. Following lunch, our guide will lead us on the Historic Homes Tour. Our first home is Twin Oaks, originally home to the notorious couple, Pierce and Cornelia Connely. Guests here always enjoy a complimentary tasting of Chef Regina Charboneau’s butter biscuits and Almond sweet tea! Next, we will see “The Burn 1832,” one of Natchez’ most significant purely Greek Revival Homes, with a beautiful garden of over 100 heirloom camellias and azaleas, it was also the setting for a novel, A Tale of Old Natchez. *Specific homes are subject to availability, but 3 Antebellum homes will be toured Our final home will be Choctaw Hall, which transitioned from Federal to Greek Revival style, and is well known for their collection of signed Jacob Petit French Porcelain and Family Silver, and furnished with William IV and early American Empire. We will say goodbye to our guide following our tour, and have time for some shopping at the “Little River Trading Post” before we leave today. We will make our way back to Vicksburg and Jackson, arriving back by early evening.
