FYI….

• If your school is not in School Improvement (and none are at this time), it is not necessary to "overkill" in terms of evidence boxes.

• However, IF a school goes into school improvement,

the requirements change altogether and become much more structured.

• With state assessments changing, expect school improvement directives to change as well.

General CIP requirements for schools (not necessarily in an evidence box):

• KISS - Keep it simple…..• Principal Summary Forms (PSFs) - in school box.• CIP (and amendments) - in school box.• CIP on website.• Principal(s) is ensuring teachers are creating lessons plans

that reflect the COS, ARMT+, and/or AHSGE.• Specific documentation, as mentioned in each school's CIP (in

school box).• Secondary Schools - Syllabus (with ARMT, COS, and AHSGE

correlations strongly suggested). Syllabus should be posted on teacher's website.

General CIP requirements for schools (cont.)….

• Intervention strategies (as mentioned in school's CIP).• Teacher lesson plans (these can be viewed via INOW or lesson

plan books -  no need to copy for visitor's benefit).• Evidence of student work/teacher lessons. Collect BEST

PRACTICES, perhaps on a rotating schedule. Have student work displayed in halls and classroom - that's much better (and authentic) than a crowded evidence box.

• Only TWO GOALS: Math and Language Arts. No need for Social Studies and Science goals, as we are not measured on these areas (yet), nor show deficiencies in them.

The BOX….

What should

be in it??

Walkthrough Schedules

to school

• Secondary: – 1st Semester (Science and Math) – 2nd Semester (English and History)

Suggestions

• Kill two birds - Utilize RtI data for math and reading goals (STAR Enterprise and SuccessMaker data)

• Try to keep number of goals to 2 (one for math and one for reading/language arts). NO need for science and history goals.

• Have teachers print out lesson plans and leave on desk. If using lesson plans book, those are completely acceptable as well, as long as they are easily accessible to visitors.

• Prepare tentative schedule for CIP walkthrough (list of teachers and general time frames). Give visitor a copy.
