    INTRODUCTION

    What is CINEMATIC GUITARS?

Sample Logic's awardwinning team presents a powerful collection of morphed guitar instruments harnessedin a remarkably adaptable core effects sequencer engine powered by the Native Instruments Kontakt

Player. Derived entirely from true electric and acoustic guitar recordings by guitar guru Steve Ouimette(known for his work on the Guitar Hero franchise) this library is not a traditional guitar sample library, rather, it is an extensive collection of atmospheres, instrumentals, and percussives unlike any ever heardbefore. Taking it one step further, Cinematic Guitars gives users the power to create and manipulate custominstruments using the first ever "core effects sequencer" designed by Sample Logic and built into the Kontaktengine.

This library is all encompassing, exploring infinite timbres and emotions through its unprecedentedcollection of over 1000 instruments and multis, starting with bizarre, dark, euphoric, spiritual, electronicsounds and going far beyond.

CINEMATIC GUITARS is geared for film, TV, game, and electronic composers.

    Creating CINEMATIC GUITARS

Sample Logic teamed up with renowned Guitar Hero series guitarist and composer Steve Ouimette to record awide spectrum of guitars including steel, nylon, electric guitars and a variety of other rare stringedinstruments. We dug deep into Steve's imagination and vast collection of guitar effect boxes and amp gear tocapture some of the most unique and original sounds possible. Everything from bowing, scratching, andmutilation, to gentile somber gestures and effects. From there, Sample Logic manipulated and molded thesesuperior sounds into a master suite of jawdropping instruments and multis using various morphingtechniques and the realtime Cinematic Guitars "core effects sequencer". Rest assured, no guitars wereburned during the creation of this product!

    Whats under the hood?

Over 1,100 instruments and multis recorded and processed at 48k/24 bit, delivered at 44.1k/24bit 9 GB sample library (uncompressed) 5.8 GB via Kontakt's lossless sample storage compression NI Kontakt Player 4 with native 64bit support

    CINEMATIC GUITARS IN DEPTH

Important features that will enhance your experience with CINEMATIC GUITARS.

Most instruments feature a variety of key ranges and transpositions that are pitched relative to thechromatic scale.

In most cases, samples have been mapped so their fundamental pitches are nearest to the middle Coctave range (C3).

Sample key ranges have been stretched (transposed) to maximize creative possibilities and sonic fidelity. For loopbased instruments, samples will operate best between G2 G3 and can be synced to a wide

range of tempos. Sample ranges outside the recommended key map should be used at your owndiscretion.

    How CINEMATIC GUITARS is organized

CINEMATIC GUITARS is built around 3 main categories:ATMOSPHERES, INSTRUMENTALS, PERCUSSIVES.

Within each category is a unique set of subfolders and subcategories ordered by timbre/sound type orgenre. These contain a variety of instruments that are labeled by their general sound description. Instrumentshave been categorized by genre, timbre, and the mood they evoke, but by no means should they be limited bytitle or category. Our system is designed to better help you with organization and finding the sound you arelooking for. Instruments are labeled based on the timbre that our programmers felt appropriate. Some couldfit into multiple categories; therefore they are named in a way that suggests this. In these situations, theinstruments and samples are placed into the genre that it most appropriately fits.

CINEMATIC GUITARS also includes a MULTIS preset folder, which follow the same labeling system based onsound type or genre.

    TIPS & TRICKS

CINEMATIC GUITARS can be loaded into the full version of Kontakt 4 (not included). This provides youthe ability to customize the internal sample programming and effects. If you own Kontakt 4, you can loadthis library and experiment, stretch, layer, alter loop lengths, and apply additional effects to each

instrument. Customized instruments should be saved with a new name so the original is preserved.

There are many sonic possibilities buried deep within CINEMATIC GUITARS waiting to be discovered, butif you are just starting out or in a hurry, we suggest trying out the multis (multiinstrument presets) for atrue taste of CINEMATIC GUITARS. We recommend that you explore the library. Be sure to audition everykey and sample.

Each of our Multis has been designed to be an allinone instrument assigned to MIDI Ch. omni. In thisway, all instruments within the Multi are played at the same time or strategically. However, you canreassign each instrument to a unique MIDI channel in Kontakt for sequencing each separately in yourDAW.

Save large templates of instruments as multis to expedite your workflow. Try adding a release time effect to loops by using the built in delay and reverb. This will add a wet or

delayed release time when a note is released. Reverb and delay will also help smooth out loops whenneeded to conceal choppiness sometime audible higher on the key map of the instruments or at slowertempos.

When sequencing effects in the user interface, try adjusting the Strength knob(s) to moderate maximumeffect ranges, especially when effects cause resonant peaks or pops in the audio.

Consider reducing the release time for instruments that are sequenced when you desire to play melodicor fast changing musical lines. A shorter release will allow sequenced effects to retrigger from the start oftheir pattern; otherwise they will latch onto the sequencers current location.

Use the Copy/Paste patterns feature for duplicating a sequencer pattern across multiple effects. Turn on the Filter section to control HiCut with the modwheel. This only works when the HiCut

    sequencer is not activated.

    TROUBLESHOOTING

Setting the Arpeggiator to 1 bar causes an undesirable feedback loop. This is by Native Instrumentsdesign in Kontakt 4.1.1. To get around this, change the speed of the Arp to a faster time value.

If your CPU becomes bogged down during playback (audio popping, glitches, dropouts), try: Reduce the number of voices in each instrument on the instrument interface. Purge unused samples for instruments. Set the KontaktCPU overload protection to relaxed or medium etc., and/or set the appropriate

multiprocessor settings from the Engine settings tab under Kontakts Options menu. Adjust the latency slider underAudio settings tab from Kontakts Options menu. If you have more than 2GB of RAM, experiment with the KMS Kontakt Memory Serversettings

from the Memorytab under Kontakts Options menu.
