TheCINEVCLX/2BatterycanonlybechargedwiththeCINEVCLX/2oraCINEVCLXcharger.DONOTattempttochargethisbatterywithanyothercharger.

TheCINEVCLX/2batteryrepresentsthelatestinbatterytechnology.NickelMetalHydride(NiMH)issimilartoNiCadbatteriesinmostcharacter-istics.However,NiMHhasmoresensitivecharginganddischargingparametersandrequiresalongerchargetimeforoptimumperformance.Thechargetimeisapproximately3hourswiththeCINEVCLX/2chargeror7½hourswiththeCINEVCLXcharger.

ThedevelopmentoftheCINE VCLX/2batterysystemhasbeenmadepossiblebyadvancementsinacelltechnology.Thesenickelmetalhydridecellsprovidethehighestenergydensitycellavailable.ThehighperformanceofthenewbatteriesisassuredthroughtheincorporationofthepioneeringInterActivetechnologyoftheAnton/BauerDigitalsystem.Thebatteryisequippedwithanonboard“fuelcomputer”whichmonitorsenergyputintoandtakenoutofeachbattery,aswellascriticaloperatingcharacteristicsandconditions.ThisdataiscommunicatedtotheInterActivechargertoensuresafeandoptimizereliableperformance.

Inaddition,remainingbatterycapacityinformationisavailabletotheoperatorbymeansoftheRealTime™LCDdisplayonthebattery.Thisbatterysurpassesthetraditional“blockbattery”,whichisthemostcommonbatteryusedtopowerfilmcameras,byhavinganextraor-dinarypowerratingof280watthoursor19amperehours.Thesimultaneous28v(regulated)and14.4v(nominal)outputsallowspoweringofmultiplepiecesofequipmentatthesametime.Also,aregulated28voutputallowsyoutopowervirtuallyanyfilmcamerafromaMovieCamtoanARRI435.

Microprocessor Fuel Computer -Accuratelymonitorstheenergyputintoandtakenoutofthebattery.Thisdataispro-cessedwithsophisticatedprogramsthattakeintoaccountbatteryage,selfdischarge,charge/dischargerate,cellimbalanceandpreviouslyexperiencedcharge/dischargecycles.TheCINEVCLX/2batteryconstantly“learns”itsprecisestateofchargeandremainingcapacity.Thisdataisautomaticallytransmittedtothecharger.

2. Integral RealTime®‘LCD’ -Accuratelydisplaysthepercentageofremainingbatterycapacityatalltimes.

3. Multi-Voltage Output -Themulti-voltageoutput,both14.4voltand28voltmakesthisbatteryunique,makingittheperfectap-plicationformostfilmcameras.

4. High Current Output –Allowsfor10ampcurrentdrawnfrom14.4voltoutputsand12ampdrawfrom28voltoutput.

5. Case design -ThehighqualitydesignoftheCINEVCLX/2bat-teryprotectsthecellsfromimpactandnormaloperatinguse.

7. Low Voltage Cut-Off - TheCINEVCLX/2batteryhasalowvolt-agecut-offtoprotectagainstdamagetothebattery.Thelowvoltagecut-offissetto12volts.

Chargethisbatteryfullybeforeusing.Allowthebatterytoreachasteadygreenmodebeforeusing.Chargingisautomatic.Theflashingredandgreenlightsindicatethechargerandbatteryareestablishingcommunications.Simplyplugthe19pLEMOcon-nectorfromtheCS-GBCcableintothebatteryandtheotherendintothecharger.Note:ItisrecommendedthatthechargerfirstbepluggedintoACmainsandthenattachthebatteryforcharging.

Chargethisbatteryfullybeforeusing.Allowthebatterytoreachasteadygreenmodebeforeusing.Chargingisautomatic.Theflash-ingredandgreenlightsindicatethechargerandbatteryareestablishingcommunications.Simplyplugthe19pLEMOconnectorfromtheCS-GBCcableintothechargerandthenplugtheotherend(19pLEMOconnector)intothebattery.Note:itisrecommendedthatthechargerfirstbepluggedintoACmainsandthenattachthebatteryforcharging.

REALTIME LCD The CINE VCLX / 2 features a “RealTime” LCD providing“on-the-fly”remainingruntimeestimatesin15minuteincrementsaswellassimultaneouslyprovidingremainingcapacityinformationusingthetraditional“FuelGauge”approach.Nospecialadaptersorsetupisrequired.RealTimeautomatically calculates the load and displays capacity information and battery status at all times.

SpecialelectronicsprotecttheNiMhcellsinthebatteryfromdamageandtoensuresafeoperation.Theseelectronicsworkinconjunc-tionwiththebatteryelectronicsandwillgivetheoperatoradditionalindicationsintheRealTimedisplayofthebattery’sstatusasoutlinedbelow.

1. “INTERACTIVE” SEGMENT:Whenilluminated,itindicatesthebatteryhascompleteditsfullchargeroutine.

2. “RES” Bar:Isthelast“FuelGauge”Barandwillstarttoflashat6%capacityandwillcontinuetoflashuntilEOD(EndOfDis-charge)isreached.

3. “SERVICE” SEGMENT:Indicatesself-diagnosticfunctionshavedetectedanomalies.Abatterywitha“Service”flagshouldbereturnedtotheAnton/BauerServiceDepartment

IMPORTANT NOTE:TheflashingSIDEBARSindicationisnotawarningindication.Thebatterywilloperateperfectlynormalwhileawaitinga“learning”cycle.Ratherthanrelyingonan“assumed”capacity,aswithsomeimitationfuelgauges,thebatteryreliesontheDigitalBatteryelectronicstoupdatecapacityinformationasthebatteryseesdifferentoperatingconditionsandagesnormally.Theflashingbarsaremerelyanindicationthatthebatteryhasnotupdatedthisinformationforsometimeandisrequestingaconfir-mationofits“learned”capacity.

LOW BATTERY WARNING TheredLEDonthetopofthebattery,nexttothe19PinLEMOchargingconnector,willflashwhenthebatteryhasapproximately15minutesofruntimeremaining.Themicroprocessor,internaltothebattery,willcalculatetheloadapplied,anddeterminewhenthereis15minutesorless,ofruntimeremaining.

SERVICE GUIDELINES FOR OPTIMUM PERFORMANCE AND MAXIMUM LIFE 1. Keepbatteriescooloratroomtemperatureswheneverpos-

sible.SustainedelevatedtemperaturesaretheprimaryreasonforprematurefailureofNiMHbatteries:

a. Charging-Chargebatteriesatroomtemperature.Inwarmclimateskeepchargersinairconditionedroomsthataremaintainedbetween65°Fto85°Fforbestper-formance.

b. IntheField-Donotleavebatteriesinahotvehicletrunkoroutindirectsunlightunnecessarily.

c. Storage-Ifbatteriesarenotgoingtobeusedforseveralmonths,theyshouldbefullydischarged,sealedinaplas-ticbagandstoredinarefrigerator.

2. UseonlyanAnton/BauerCINEVCLXorCINEVCLX/2Char-gerandkeepthebatteryonthechargeruntiljustpriortobeingused.

3. Returnbatterytothechargerassoonaspossibleafterusepreferrablywithin24hours.

4. Do not over-discharge batteries-Itisquitepropertodis-chargeabatteryuntilalowvoltagewarninginthecameraorVTRisobserved.However,aswitchtoafreshbatteryshouldoccurassoonaspossiblefollowingsuchindication

a. ACINEVCLX/2batteryshouldbechangedassoonas-possibleaftera“flashing‘RES’segment”orRedflashingLEDisindicated.

b. Neverleaveabatteryoperateddeviceunattendedwhileitisrunning.

c. DONOTLEAVEABATTERYATTACHEDTOACAMERA/CAMCORDERduringtransitorstorage.“Keepwarm”circuitryinthecameracanoverdischargethebattery.

5. Routineuseofabatteryatdischargeratesgreaterthanthebatteryratingcanreduceoverallservicelife.

6. Dischargingthebatteryfordiagnosticpurposesshouldonlybeperformedonanoccasionalbasis(onceevery6-8weeksatmost).Unnecessarydischargingonlydetractsfromoveralllife.

VCLX/2batteriesandcalibratetheelectroniccomponentsandsensors.Anyattemptbytheuseroranyotherunauthorizedpersonstoservicethisbatterywillsurelyresultinimpropercalibrationoftheelectroniccomponentsresultinginseverebatterydamageand/orsafetyhazardstotheoperator,inadditiontovoidingany/allremainingunconditionalorpro-ratedwarrantyconditions.

THEREFORE:

1. DO NOTattempttoservicethisbatteryunderanycircumstances.

2. DO NOTsendthisbatteryforservicetoanyoneotherthantheAnton/BauerCustomerSupportGroup.
