Career Information Career Information Management System Management System
(CIMS)(CIMS)CIMS is the Navy’s authorized source for career development,
designed in partnership with the Fleet to provide a deck plate level tool for CCC’s and CMC’s to use in their day-to-day duties of managing career development for all Sailors.
CIMS:– Automates the Career Development process.– The Navy’s official source for Career Management to include
ESR, Advancement (Stats and Profile Sheets), Gains (PCS Orders and Sponsor Assignment), Losses (PRD, EAOS and HYT), Unit tracking (Alpha, PACT and PTS).
– Creates and maintains a Sailor’s Career Development record. – NSIPS web-afloat currently onboard 155 ships.– Currently have 10,403 CCC accounts and 8,658 Dept/Div CC
accounts.

Career Development - Modified the Career Development page to allow CCs to update CDTC & FTSW
dates for active duty personnel and CDTC & RASW dates for reserve personnel. - Resolved an issue that prevented Career Counselors from being able to update the
“Other Required” and “TRF/SEP Required” on the Career Development page once the Sailor had transferred. This issue was also preventing the CCC from being able to verify the CDB.
Career Counselor Manage/Assign - Combined functionality of the
Mass Department and Mass Division Career Counselor management into a single new component and refined the search and display options. Allows CCCs to replace and add Department and Division Career Counselors to a Sailor. Also allows CCCs to update a Sailors’ Department or Division assignment.

CIMS Listings - Updated all of the CIMS listing pages to ensure that a “Find” and
“Customize” link appeared on all of them.
- Updated all of the CIMS Listing pages to ensure that users were able to select multiple UICs.
Personnel Information Listings - Language List: Updated the language list to include the new DoD 3 character language
abbreviations
- CDTC List: Modified the CDTC listing to compare and display the most current completion
date from either the Career Development or Course Data component.
Modified the CDTC listing so that all enlisted personnel assigned to the UIC(s) selected are displayed, instead of just those that have completed a CDTC course.

Personnel Information Listings con’t - FTSW List: Modified the FTSW listing to compare and display the most current completion date from either the Career Development or Course Data component.
Modified the FTSW listing so that all personnel in paygrades E4 and below assigned to the UIC(s) selected are displayed.
- RASW List (new): Replaced the Reserve FTSW listing with the RASW listing. The list displays all
reserve E6 and below personnel assigned to the UIC(s) selected, along with the RASW completion date entered on the Career Development page.

Losses Lists - Added a Perform To Serve (PTS) Status column to the All Losses Listing which
displays the status of the most current active duty PTS package.
- PRD List: Added a column on the Projected Rotation Date (PRD) Listing that has the title of
the Ultimate (ULT) UIC a Sailor is ordered to.
Added a link on the PRD Listing which allows users to open or create a Career Decision for each record.
- EAOS List: Added a column on the Expiration of Active Obligated Service (EAOS) Loss Listing
that displays the Sailor’s Career Zone.
Resolved an issue which was preventing the associated Career Decision type and plan date from being displayed on the Expiration of Active Obligated Service (EAOS) List.

Unit Tracking's - PTS List Added an option on the PTS List which allows users to filter the results by
entering a PRD date parameter.
Modified the PTS Status on the PTS Listing to display the total number of times a PTS package was "Rolled Over".
Modified PTS list functionality so that only PTS package information is displayed for personnel where individual's Zone is the same as the PTS package Zone.
Resolved a PTS data issue that was causing the PTS Status to display incorrectly on the PTS Listing.
Resolved an issue on the PTS List which prevented users from navigating directly to the NSIPS Administrative Remarks component so that a PG 13 could be created.

Unit Tracking's - CDB Notification List Resolved an issue that caused the CDB Notification listing to “time out”. When
the links on the CDB Notification listing were used to create multiple CDBs, the CDB notification list would time out when it was reprocessed.
- Alpha Roster List Resolved an issue on the Alpha Roster List where Department and Division Career
Counselors were not being properly displayed once they were assigned to Sailors.
- Career Decisions List Resolved an issue on the Career Decisions List that prevented users from navigating
directly to the CIMS Career Decision component.
- MGIB-SR List Resolved an issue on the MGIB-SR list where officers that did not have prior
enlisted service were being omitted from the list.

CIMS Certificates - Corrected the way rating descriptions were being printed on the CIMS
Reenlistment certificate. Corrected an issue where long rating descriptions were being “cutoff” when the certificate was printed.
SRB Calculator - Updated both Active Duty and SELRES SRB multipliers and values.
Correspondence Tracking - Complete redesign of the page to allow CCs to view several entries at once by
displaying multiple rows on each page. - Added a Correspondence Type value of “Other”, which allows the CCs to select
a Correspondence Package type not listed, then manually enter an “Other” type description of up to 25 characters in length.
- Added a 250 character comments field to the page to allow for free text entry & notes
Planned UpdatesPlanned Updates
CIMS changes set for release 1.2.19 Career Counselor Manage/Assign - Added functionality to support assignment and tracking of an Alternate
Department Career Counselor, Alternate Division Career Counselor, Leading Chief and Alternate Leading Chief.
Career Development Data - Modified the CDB Board Comments block to indicate the characters remaining
before the maximum length is exceeded. Additional functionality includes display of a warning that data will be truncated when pasted data exceeds the maximum field length.
CIMS Career Development (Reserve) - Modified the Temporary Rate functionality to allow counselors to select whether
an individual is in a Temporary Rate. Functionality also allows users to enter the start date and completion date for qualifications to make rate permanent.
Before we go into questions we are going to do an overview of Users Manual.
