Display Effects

New Display Effects Dialog

The new Display Effects dialog incorporates the Materials, Textures, and Lighting dialogs, making it easier for users to control all display effects.

Adding textures is now far more intuitive. Additions to lighting include control over scene effects as well as better lighting controls (see next page).

Benefits:

Better user experience

The new Display Effects dialog has two tabs, one for

textures and one for lighting (which includes material

controls). The texture tab displayed above offers a far

more intuitive way to add textures.

Lighting Enhancements

Users can now view and position lights on screen.

Rather than control lighting effects from a dialog box, users can now see the lighting visually and position lights by dragging.

Benefits:

Better user experience

Each of the circles represents a light (directional,

spotlight, or spherical). The brighter the lights, the

whiter the circle. The lights can be moved and

pointed in any direction.

Product Manufacturing Information (PMI)

PMI Enhancements

CimatronE can now create and read (from other CAD formats) additional PMI symbols, including:

Geometrical tolerance

Geometrical datum

Datum target

Surface roughness

Surface finish

Coordinate label

The symbols can be included in the drafting environment.

Additionally, PMI annotations can now be dragged.

Benefits:

Improved communication

Better user experience

The user added a coordinate label to mark the center

point of the hole.

The user has added geometrical datum, labeling the

line above with a letter A, and has noted the

geometrical tolerance of a second line.

PMI Import from Pro/ENGINEER and Siemens NX

CimatronE now reads PMI from Pro/ENGINEER and Siemens NX (formerly UG) in addition to CATIA V5.

Benefits:

Improved communication

Data Export

Data Export Improvements

This version offers additional flexibility for data export operations, allowing users to:

Skip archived entities while exporting.

Export assemblies to IGES and STEP as separate entities.

Export STEP and IGES parts according to the assembly UCS.

Add the company and user name to the header of STEP files.

Additionally, there is a new, better and faster converter for STEP and VDA.

Benefits:

Increased flexibility

Export to DWF in 3D

DWFs are highly compressed 3D or 2D CAD files that make it easier to send and receive full projects.

CimatronE 10.0 can now export native models as 3D DWF files. This enables complex CAD assemblies to be sent by email to anyone who needs to view, review, or print them.

DWF files can be read by many applications, including the free CimatronE Reviewer.

Benefits:

Send full 3D projects easily by email.

Check for Updates

The system now automatically checks for updates when CimatronE starts up.

If there is an update (and the user is connected to the internet), a notice appears with details of the service pack or patch available for download. Users simply click to download and install the update.

Benefits:

Work with the latest update at all times

Easier to install updates

When there are updates available, the dialog above

displays which upgrades are available, along with the

date, description, and other relevant update details.

CimatronE Package Management

CimatronE 10.0 offers much easier ways to manage floating licenses or several plugs, especially when a shop works with many different types of CimatronE solutions.

The license and package managers allow each user to choose, at the beginning of a session, which solution or package to use. The process is simple and straightforward.

Benefits:

Easier to manage CimatronE packages

The new License Manager shows users which

packages are available. In the case of floating

licenses, users can see which licenses are currently

being used.

Reviewer

The Reviewer is a light, downloadable application for sharing CimatronE projects with customers and affiliates, equipping them with intuitive tools to markup, and review designs.

This free-of-charge tool is combined with a new ability in CimatronE to export 2D and 3D projects to a highly efficient lightweight format, small enough to be sent by email to the end customer who can view, markup and approve it, using the new Reviewer.

Benefits:

Increased communication and collaboration with customers and affiliates

Users can send full assemblies to affiliates and

customers, who view them and mark them up using

the CimatronE Reviewer.
