2012-13 was the year child protection issues grabbed the attention of the Indian public as never before. For CHILDLINE the year meant huge increases in demands for our services, expertise and engagement with no commensurate increase in resources – human, financial or infrastructural. Call traffic increased by 70% over the previous year. Besides our core services - responding to calls to 1098 with information, advice, emotional support and physical intervention, when necessary - CHILDLINE focused on enhancing the reach and effectiveness of the Integrated Child Protection Scheme (ICPS) through 151 workshops and 70 in-house training programmes for various stakeholders.
