Cibecs Version 8.0.5 Release Notes

Improvements

• Upgraded database driver to aid in performance of high load servers.

• Missed backups are no longer performed if they are outside of the scheduled time window. These backups will be rescheduled for

the next day at the allocated time within the window.

• Improved detection of external hard disk media. To aid in preventing encryption of removable devices which may contain

shared user data which should not be encrypted.

• Improvement to retain file encryption certificates, used to encrypt data on the user's PC, after clearing or deleting the user’s backup

account. All keys backed up will be retained indefinitely should they be needed to gain access in a data lock-out scenario.

• Encryption keys are now included as part of hot-copies and therefore will be included as part of backups, of the hot-

copies, performed by third party solutions.

• Improved error logging for failures when sending file encryption certificates.

Bugs

• Fixed upgrade issue with 8.0.3 causing the Server service to not start.

• Resolved an issue whereby scheduled FStrims were not running on the Cibecs server (Linux version).

Other

• Removed the backup batching feature for installations which are no longer using it as this feature will no longer supported in future

releases.

8.0 Other Improvements

• Fixed issue whereby backup selection was always seen as changed causing file system scans on every backup.

• Increase Journal size on install or upgrade reducing the frequency of full file system scans.

• Enabled the Hotcopy feature by default.

• Added improved handling to unblock connections if the Hotcopy did not complete within the specified time.

• Fixed a portable server export buffer issue whereby the export failed with error "will not fit in octal number buffer“.

• Introduced handling to skip verification of the Agent MSI package when deploying from UNC paths.

• Added the Full Name for unprotected users under email reports.

• Improved handling when failing to export EFS certificates which may have resulted in an unexpected error.

• Cibecs server now includes additional performance monitoring (disabled by default).

• Note: Available by browsing to https://<cibecs_server_ip>:8443/monitoring

• Reduced the server’s Finwait settings to improve server connection load management.


8.0 Other Improvements

• Increased limit for “Allow skip backup” policy option.

• Added ‘time’ to last event date column under ‘Backup Status’ and ‘History and Reports’.

• Introduced an Agent command line argument to force a backup.

• Removed ‘Send Activation Request’ button from licensing under the Control Center. (No longer needed as it has been

replaced with the new online license activation process).
