Non-church members are welcome to attend all information meetings. The Tim Wood family, which consists of wife, LeAnn, and daughters Leah and Annalise, has been active in all phases of Silver Springs Church life since September 2007. Tim and LeAnn have great commitment and passion for the Lord and ministry through Silver Springs Church. If the church calls Tim as youth minister, he will be bi-vocational. Tim‟s full-time job for the last twelve years has been as a Shelter Insurance agent in Hermitage. His type of employment provides him a great deal of flexibility. Due to this fact, we don‟t believe it is out of the range of possibility that he can lead in the maintenance and growth of our already strong youth ministries. So that Tim can adequately oversee our youth ministries, not neglect his family, and have time for refreshment of his spirit, body, and mind; the search committee believes it will be wise for him to relinquish all of the volunteer positions he now holds. Tim is not a novice at youth ministry. As his resume reflects he served as youth minister at Donelson View Baptist Church, Donelson, from 2000 to 2007. During that time the number of students participating in the church‟s youth ministry rose from two to around twenty. Approximately fifteen youth came to know the Lord during those years and some have become church leaders at Donelson View and in other churches. In 2006- 2007, his last year to serve Donelson View, three students committed themselves to full-time ministry in the area of preaching, youth, and missions. Tim has and will continue to stay on the cutting edge of youth ministry through attending seminars and self-directed study. You can note in the contractual agreement how the church will aid him in doing so. Tim’s Thoughts

Well, I want to thank God for what He is doing in our youth ministry. Since taking over the interim position in November, I have really tried to focus our thoughts on removing "SELF" and putting our focus back on God alone. We have been studying things like Responsibility and Self-Control in Sunday School to help us be the Christian Leaders God wants us to be. Like usual, God has shown up in a big way and I have seen a positive change in student attitudes and their daily walk with Christ. Starting March 10, we will launch our new student model of ministry at Silver Springs. Please keep our student ministry in your prayers as we all walk in "uncharted water" with this new model. Lastly, I would like to thank Russ and the Search Committee for their belief in me and what God is going to do through me. If you have not had a chance to hear my heart for Youth Ministry, I would invite you to join me on Wednesday March 3 at 7:30 p.m., as I share how God is working in my life and what I believe He would have for our Youth Ministry here at Silver Springs.

Go God! Tim

New Discipleship Training Classes Begin March 3

Believing God led by Melissa Bruce (auditorium) Based on Isaiah 43:10, this study explores what it means to not only believe in God but to believe Him. Materials: $12

Dare to be Uncommon led by Don Harper (room 305) All Men Wanted . . . don‟t stand on the side lines watching as the world moves around us. Be firm, be strong, and be committed to the Lord. Being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus (Philippians 1:6). Come join us for a journey through the life of Tony Dungy as we explore “Finding your path to significance – Uncommon”. Materials: $10

Parenting (What a Christian Home Looks Like and How to Build One) led by Joyce Holleman (room 402) Our homes are the "most important place on earth", but building a Christian home is no small task. Is your home considered a Christian home just because you have a Bible and other Christian books on the table, or is there something more, something different about your home? Do those who live there feel love, grace, forgiveness, hope, and purpose for their lives? Our topics of discussion for this series of classes can be applied to parents and homes with children from babies through teens, and to grandchildren as well. We will use several excellent resources during this class to discover and dig deeper into many aspects for raising happy, healthy, productive, and responsible children with Christian values and character.

Just a Note from Mrs. Joyce…

On Sunday, February 28, we’ll have our annual potluck Sunday Lunch for all families with preschoolers and children and the leaders who work with them at Silver Springs. Lunch will be at 12:15 in the fellowship hall. Please help out by bringing a large dish or two of your favorites…vegetables, salads, and desserts are needed. Meat, bread, and drinks will be furnished. After lunch hear a few brief details about upcoming events in 2010 for preschoolers, children, and their families.

Annual GA Sleepover and Missions Study will be Friday and Saturday, March 5-6. Please sign-up with your GA leader if you plan to attend. It begins on Friday night at 7:00 p.m., and ends at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday morning. Don‟t miss it!

Journey and Bible Fun Weekend at Linden Valley Baptist Conference Center, March 12-13. We are so excited about the great response of 19 children and chaperones (plus Nick and I) participating in this special weekend with hundreds of others from across our state. Be at the church by 2:30 p.m. on Friday (3/12) to be ready to leave by 2:45 p.m. Bring sleeping bag, pillow, and towel, as well as your Bible and a pen. Please see me or Cathy Postell if you have any questions.

New Discipleship Series on Parenting begins this Wednesday, March 3 at 6:30…Building a Christian Home (The Most Important Place on Earth). Join me as we dig deep into the many aspects of building a Christian home and raising happy, healthy, productive, and responsible children with Christian values and character. The Annie Armstrong Easter Offering® is much more than an offering envelope and an annual missions-giving emphasis. When people give to the offering, 100 percent of their gift will be transformed into missionary salaries and ministry supplies. Those missionaries and supplies will help others hear the message of Christ and respond in faith to His offer of salvation. Time and again our missionaries relate how the offering is their lifeblood. They know that behind each penny given, there is a Southern Baptist who believes in what they do and are affirming the need to equip them to share the gospel with those who need a Savior.
