27 Niedziela zwykła 2 Październik, 2016

Z pewnością niejeden raz zadawaliśmy sobie pytanie o grzech, zwłaszcza ten powracający, z którym tak trudno

dać sobie radę. Dla niejednego człowieka staje się on nieomal obsesją. Mimo prób walki, kolejnych spowiedzi i

To właśnie wiara, żywy

Nowenna do Sw. Jana Pawla II. Zapraszamy.

Szczęść Wam Boże

Ks. Marian

A Note From Your Pastor Dear Brothers & Sisters in Christ,

“Increase our faith!” This humble request which the apostles make to Jesus is also the cry of all of us who strive to follow Him more closely. It is the prayer of the whole Church, especially as we continue through The Year of Mercy. We have faith, yes, or we would not be able to approach the Lord to make such a request, but we realize that our faith is still too small. So we cry out to the Lord, “Increase our faith!”

The apostles felt that their faith was insufficient as we admit that our faith is insufficient especially when dealing with life challenges and problems. We cry out „increase our faith!‟ when we encounter problems that seem insurmountable, difficulties in our relationships, health issues, fears about unknown future etc. We cry out „increase our faith!‟ when we feel intimidated by evil around us which at times seems so powerful, and by the possibility of persecution for our faith. So we begin to wonder by thinking if we will be able to persevere. Therefore we cry out, Lord, increase our faith!

Jesus’ response to the apostles request is somewhat peculiar. Jesus neither grants their request nor denies it, but instead speaks about how powerful even a very small amount of faith is. Jesus uses an image of a nearby tree to be transplanted into the sea. Here Jesus is not telling us to give orders to trees, what Jesus is telling us in a symbolic way by the image of the tree, is that faith as small as a mustard seed would give us the ability to do what is far beyond our natural powers. So we ask ourselves, why is faith so powerful? Our faith is powerful because it opens us to the power of God. Our faith opens us to a firm belief that what is impossible to us is not impossible to God.

St. Paul writing from prison to Timothy reminds us that we all have received a special gift of God, a gift which is more than enough to enable us to remain strong in faith, and that is, the Holy Spirit, who makes us “strong, loving and wise.” When we pray to the Lord, “Increase our faith,” we are opening ourselves to be moved more and more by the power of His Spirit. And with the help of the Holy Spirit who dwells within us, we are capable of living by faith, guarding our rich deposit of faith, and witnessing to our faith before others.

Sincerely,

Fr. Stanley
