Jesus began to preach and say,

“Repent, for the Kingdom of Heaven is

at hand.” (Mt. 4:17)

Today, Sunday, January 26, Sister Caratina Olmos, M.P.S. will celebrate 50 years as a religious. She will renew her vows dur-ing the 11:00 A.M. Mass. After Mass there will be refreshments in Neuman Hall. All are invited.

Beginning on February 26, Ash Wednesday, we will begin to

have Mass every Wednesday at 8:30 A.M. in English. Our

school will be invited to attend when their schedule allows.

After Mass we will have adoration of the Blessed Sacrament in

silence until 11:50 A.M. All are invited to come pray for voca-

tions, peace in the world, all who are suffering, greater care of

the planet, etc., and our own personal intentions. If we have

many who respond to this Mass and Adoration time, we will

continue to have the Mass and prayer time.

Sunday, January 26, to Saturday, February 1, is Catholic Schools

Week. During this week we remember the great impact Im-

maculate Conception School has had in our community. Over

the years thousands of children have benefited from the Catho-

lic education, which they received in our school. With this solid

foundation they in turn have been able to contribute in so

many ways to our society. They have become instruments of

God’s peace and love in our world.

We have the same home for the current students in the school.

We pray through the intercession of Mary, Our Mother of Per-

petual Help, that with the help of their parents, families, and

teachers, they will become who they are called to be— living

signs of God’s love.

There is used furniture available in the church. If interested in chairs, bureaus, night tables, etc. come to Neumann Hall on Saturday, February 1, from 1:00 to 5:00 P.M. and on Sunday, February 2, from 12:30 to 2:30 P.M. Everything must go. Do-nations are accepted. If you would like to take some furniture, please make plans to carry it out that day. We can not hold furniture. Monday, February 3, is the feast of St. Blaise. A miracle, which saved someone from choking, occurred through his interces-sion. Because of this miracle the Church blesses throats on his feast day. Throats will be blessed after all the Masses on the weekend of February 1 and 2, and on February 3.

This weekend, January 25 and 26 we will send a portion of the collection to Puerto Rico, in order to assist all those who are suffering after the recent natural disasters. On Tuesday, February 4, the Charismatic group will have a Mass in Spanish at 7:30 P.M. They will begin with the Rosary at 7:00 P.M. The “Servidores” will meet at 6:00 P.M. in the rectory. On Thursday, February 6, there will be a service committee at 7:00P.M. in the rectory. If you would like to be an altar server, reader, Minister of Holy Communion, or sing in the choir, please leave your name and telephone number at the rectory office. On Sunday, February 9, South Bronx Churches is sponsoring a meeting in Neumann Hall from 12:00 to 2:30 P.M. about the extensive repairs the New York City Housing Authority has promised to make for their tenants. At this meeting tenants will have an opportunity to hear of their progress and to make comments.

No podemos guardar muebles. .
