Love at home
“God has created us so we do small things with great love. I believe in that great love that comes, or should come from our heart, should start at home: with my family, my neighbors across the street, those right next door. And this love should then reach everyone.” Blessed Teresa of Calcutta

Thanks to all for a Great Anniversary Celebration!! Words here will fail to adequately describe the great celebration we enjoyed last Sunday as we marked the 50th Anniversary milestone with a Mass and Festival with Cardinal Timothy Dolan. The Mass was celebrated outdoors under a tent with close to 800 people in attendance (and perhaps even more). Among the priests in attendance, were Fr. Tom Kiely, my predecessor, Fr. Jack Hunter, who is remembered fondly for the time spent here as an associate and Fr. Anthony from Ghana who was warmly welcomed as he made the trip all the way from Ghana to be with us. Amazing!! Among the public officials who attended the Mass was Robert Astorino, the Westchester County Executive. Actually, Bob Astorino received his First Communion here at Holy Spirit some years ago. Linda Puglisi, the Town Supervisor was also present. On behalf of the parish, I thank her for all her support during this past Jubilee Year. Additionally, the parish received numerous civic proclamations marking the Anniversary. We will proudly display them in the Children’s Liturgy Room. At the Mass, Cardinal Dolan was presented with a gift from the parish. He was given the replica of a commemorative plaque that was installed in the Church to mark the day. The original plaque is on permanent display outside the sacristy. The work was created by Renovata Studios and made possible by a donation from Christine L. Romeo, who is one of a number of parishioners who have been attending Holy Spirit from the very beginning of our history. Thank you so much. “Thank you” cannot fully express my gratitude to the Jubilee Committee and their great band of volunteers who spent many hours preparing and planning for the great day. Thanks also to my most adept staff who attended to many details and accommodating the people who attended, most especially the handicapped. Thank you also to the Knights of Columbus and the Columbiettes for coming out in such great number and for the Color Corps for participating in the Mass. I’m grateful for all you do to support our parish. Thanks to all the people who helped to make our Liturgy beautiful. Thanks to our amazing choir and musicians under the direction of Mrs. Joan Rojas. You were all brilliant. Thanks to the ushers who were truly expert in coordinating various aspects of the Mass. You were great and I personally thank you for all your support. Thanks to the Lectors and all the readers who offered the petitions in various languages and thank you to all the altar servers who participated along with their families. You made us proud. Finally, thanks to all our parishioners who participated and for all the love and support that you give to the parish every day. Our thanks must also go to all those who have gone before us, whose dedication and sacrifices made these past 50 years possible. With this support, let us go forward and ask Almighty God to lovingly guide our steps to continue the work of preaching the “good news”: work that was begun with the descent of the Holy Spirit on the Apostles on the First Pentecost.
I’m grateful and blessed to be your pastor, God Bless… Fr. John.

All who place a listing in the book will be reserved a complimentary copy.

Upward glance Try spending part of each day alone with God. Human conversation keeps you grounded on Earth. Moments spent with God are moments glancing toward the Heaven that awaits.
– Growing in Faith
At Mass… Be silent, be thoughtful, be reverent,
for this is the Lord’s House. Before Mass, speak to God.
During Mass, let God speak to you. After Mass, speak to one another.
