The Holy Family

Grant us, O Lord Jesus, to imitate

the example of your Holy Family,

so as to make our home another Nazareth.

May peace, love, and happiness prevail.

Grant us the grace to be

the parents we should be.

Grant that our children may find

solid support for their human dignity

and for their growth in truth and love

within the embrace of our home.

And when the time comes for each of us

to go to the everlasting home

you have prepared for us,

may your glorious Mother and St Joseph

take us to you, after the final grace

of a happy death. Amen.

Holy Cross School 356-9521

At Holy Cross School, service to others is an

important part of our students’ curriculum. This year our

students teamed up to complete several Advent service

projects. Our kindergarten, 1st, & 3rd graders completed

chores around the house to earn money to spend on

donations for the Champaign County Humane Society.

Our 2nd & 4th grade students held a bake sale to earn

funds for the Daily Bread Soup Kitchen. Our 5th thru 8th

graders collected gently used towels, wash cloths, blankets,

and gloves for the Canteen Run, sponsored by the

Salvation Army, as well as coats and winter accessories for

Austin's Place, an emergency overnight shelter for women.

Our 6th thru 8th grade choral students visited Clark

Lindsey Retirement Village for Christmas caroling. Our Girl

Scouts in Grades K—5 collected toiletries and assembled

toiletry bags for the St. Vincent de Paul food pantry. They

also visited several assisted living facilities to deliver

poinsettias on behalf of the St. Vincent de Paul Society.

Thank you to our school faculty for teaching our students

the importance of serving others and that there is always

something we can give!

HOLY CROSS FIRST FRIDAY MEMORIAL

For I was hungry and you gave me food.

I was thirsty and you gave me drink.

~ Matthew 25: 34-46

A Word from Joy

Updates: We have 3 of our families situated for Christmas!

Thank you, Ms. Case at St. Matthew School and teachers

for sponsoring 2 families. One of the Moms called me back,

crying happy tears at the care and love that went into the

children’s stockings and gifts!

Thank you for donated hats, scarves and gloves for our chil-

dren! Thank you to St. Vincent de Paul society for helping

one of our families in financial distress, and for Christmas

meals for 2 of our families!

One of our families, that has food insecurity, shared their

Aldi gift card with another family in distress. Our Mom said:

”You have showed us so much kindness and help. You

gave, I gave. I had to pay it forward. and it felt good helping

someone else.

The Mom with the new baby is back at work full time and

was able to stay in her apartment, thanks to everyone help-

ing her family!

Thank you for money donated, and for the offer of 2 chairs

and a double bed and headboard and night stand.

Need(s): Size 2 and 5 diapers. Prayers for our families that

are struggling.

Please keep all these families in your prayers! If your family

would like to help with any of these needs, please contact

Joy at 359-8406. Thank you! To support our ministry: If you

give a check, please mark the check with Pro-Life in the

memo line. If you pay on-line, please note that there is a

new category for us and the donation will go directly into our

account! Of course, prayers are appreciated anytime!

“Give something, however small, to the one in need. For it

is not too small to one who has nothing. Neither is it small

to God, if we have given what we could.”

(St Gregory Nazianzen)
