St. Pius X Community

How can we stay connected to our faith and community while we are social distancing?
Losing the ability to celebrate Mass together weekly was a blow to us all. Our staff is working on various
ways to pray, learn, and stay connected to one another. If you have ideas or skills that may help us
grow closer as a parish community or serve one another please let us know.
In the meantime:
• Sign up to volunteer to assist and reach out to our home bound parishioners. (see the parish website at
www.piusx.org)
• Let's pray together.
Pray for the intentions of our parishioners - If you would like to be a part of our prayer ministry or if you have specific
prayer requests for these prayer warriors, please let us know so we can forward them on.
Form a virtual "prayer group" - Several of you have already begun scheduling time to connect by praying together via
video chats. If you're willing to help us create, lead, or be a part of one, please sign up for our email list. We'll help
give you ideas of how to pray together.
Watch email and subscribe to our YouTube Channel. We are planning to try a parish-wide prayer via Zoom soon!
• Keep learning about the faith to increase your hunger for the Sacraments! We are excited to announce that our
parish now has access to premium video content from Word on Fire. These films and videos feature Bishop Robert
Barron who has been hailed as “one of the Church’s greatest messengers" and is the second most-followed Catholic
in the world on social media (behind only Pope Francis.) He is best known for his CATHOLICISM film series and
his Emmy-nominated Pivotal Players series, which have both aired on PBS and EWTN, and have been seen by mil-
lions of people.
Thanks to Flocknote, our parish's email and texting tool, we can now send you short Bishop Barron videos with
engaging questions via email or text message. We encourage you to participate in our parish discussions as together we
draw deeper into the Faith.
In addition, you now have access to the entire Word on Fire digital video library. You can watch any of Bishop
Barron's films or study programs whenever you want, on any device! Just click on any video we send to get started!
If your email and/or phone number is not registered with the parish, or if you would like to add
additional addresses, please register at https://StPiusXChurch.flocknote.com/everyone

Parish Notes
CHARITABLE GIVING. The Church of St. Pius X understands the economic impact that this emergency
is having on so many individuals in our parishes, as well as on our community as a whole. In times like this, it is
even more urgent for us to assist our brothers and sisters who are in the most need. We encourage you
to consider supporting organizations that are responding to this crisis, such as Catholic Charities or the Society of
St. Vincent de Paul. Also, please continue to work to support individuals who depend on parish
charitable efforts for other necessities.
PARISH SUPPORT. Our Weekly Collections remain essential to the continued operation of our parish and its
mission. With the suspension of Masses through May 15th, weekly contributions are uncertain. Through all of these
sudden events, St. Pius' financial landscape has become more vulnerable
WEEKLY ENVELOPES may be mailed to or placed in the parish office lock-box at 1315 12th Ave NW.
DIRECT GIVING will continue as normal. If you would like to enroll or makes changes to your current donation,
please contact the parish office.
ONLINE GIVING allows you to make donations using your debit/credit card. The weshare site also has 2nd collec-
tions available. You are able to access from the parish website. Please contact Doug at the parish office if you have
any questions.
Thank you for supporting St. Pius X!
A PRAYER FOR OUR PRIESTS DURING
THIS TIME.
Eternal God,
Be with our priests this day
as they seek to minister to your people.
May you be a guiding and protective presence
with them as they bring the consolation and
hope of Your word and the grace and nourish-
ment of Eucharist to those entrusted into their
care.
Grant them the strength of mind and body,
keep them safe to do your will,
And give them the courage and peace
to face each day with trust and confidence in
You.
Into your hands O God, we commend them;
fill them with your grace and healing. Amen.

WHAT SHOULD I DO IF I CAN’T
GO TO MASS? Catholics are
encouraged to make a ‘spiritual
communion. ’St. John Paul II
writes that “it is good to cultivate
in our hearts a constant desire for the sacrament of
the Eucharist. This was the origin of the practice of
‘spiritual communion,’ which has happily been estab-
lished in the Church for centuries and recommended
by saints who were masters of the spiritual life.
HOW DO I MAKE A SPIRITUAL COMMUNION?
Below are recommendations for how to make a
‘spiritual communion’ when unable to participate in
the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. The recommendations
can be adapted based upon personal and family
needs.
1. Gather with others in your household and begin a
time of prayer with the sign of the cross.
2. Take time to read and reflect upon the readings
from Sunday Mass. You can find the readings at
usccb.org.
Additionally, a weekly televised Sunday Mass is avail-
able to watch at: https://
www.dowr.org/about/weekly-mass.html for the
diocese. Most of all we are blessed to have Father
Russ saying Mass via the YOUTUBE Channel from
Tuesday through Sunday.
3. Share prayer intentions quietly or aloud.
4. Pray the Lord’s Prayer.
5. Close with the sign of the cross.
SPIRITUAL COMMUNION PRAYER
My Jesus,
I believe that you are present
in the most Blessed Sacrament.
I love You above all things and
I desire to receive You into my soul.
Since I cannot now receive You sacramentally,
come at least spiritually into my heart.
I embrace You as if You were already there,
and unite myself wholly to You.
