From the Pastor

Dear Parishioners,

Happy Labor Day weekend!

As we come to the unofficial close of the summer, I hope and pray that everyone had a safe and restful summer. As our schools reopen and students and teachers return to the classrooms, let us be thankful for the past and hopeful for the future as a new season begins.

This weekend is the final Sunday of our summer Sunday Mass schedule. Next Sunday, September 9th, we will return to our regular Sunday schedule of 7:30 AM, 9:30 AM, and noon.

After going through all of the comments from our survey concerning the Sunday Mass schedule, it was decided that we would return to the usual schedule, even though 2/3 of those who responded to the survey would prefer a change in the schedule. Based on Mass attendance for this coming year, we will revisit this matter again next year.

Looking forward to the opening of a new year of Religious Education, many families have registered for our religious education program. Gail Ferraiolo and Maria Matos have been working very hard during the summer months to ensure that everything will be in place and ready for the new year which begins on September 23rd. Our whole parish is thankful for their dedication and service to the young people of our parish.

Please remember to pray for all those who are unemployed and underemployed, those who are searching for fair wages and an honest day’s work.

Also, as we continue to hear many disturbing reports on the news and in the newspapers, please pray that our Lord will guide our church and its leaders as we face these most challenging times in our church.

Enjoy the weekend and Closter fun day on Monday.

Sincerely in the Lord,

Fr. Joe

We Pray for the Sick Irene Abad, Paula Bertelloni, Christian Brueck, Fran Caldwell, Dolores Collier, Lee Ann Davito,

Lisa Deegan, Desiderio Fernandes, Frank Forte, Ed Koch, Sr. Dominic Marie McDonnell, Carol Munkins,

David O’Hanlon, John Pagano, Alicia Parent, Joan Pinto, Richard Pinto, Jim Walsh

SPECIAL COLLECTIONS Next weekend, September 8th and 9th there are three collections. We realize this mistake. Two of them are required by the Archdiocese – Eastern Europe and Catholic University of America College Collections in addition to our regular Sunday Collection.
