TTHE THIRTY-SECOND SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME – November 11, 2018
Ask Sr. Rose
St. Frances Xavier Cabrini
St. Frances Xavier Cabrini was born as Maria Francesca Cabrini on July 15, 1850 in Sant' Angelo Lodigiano, Lombardy, Italy. She was born two months premature and the youngest of thirteen children. Unfortunately, only three of her siblings survived past adolescence and Frances would live most of her life in a fragile and delicate state of health. Frances became dedicated to living a life for religious work from a young age and received a convent education at a school ran by the Daughters of the Sacred Heart. She graduated with high honors and a teaching certificate. When Frances was 18, she applied for admission to the religious congregation of the Daughters of the Sacred Heart, but was turned down because of her poor health. Instead, a priest asked her to teach at the House of Providence Orphanage in Cadagono, Italy. She taught at the girls' school for six years and drew a community of women in to live the religious way of life. In 1877, she became Mother Cabrini after she finally made her vows and took the religious habit, also adding Xavier to her name in honor of St. Francis Xavier.
St. Frances Xavier Cabrini was beatified on November 13, 1938, by Pope Pius XI and canonized by Pope Pius XII on July 7, 1946, making her the first United States citizen to be canonized. Her feast day is celebrated on November 13th and she is the patron saint of immigrants.
Why do Catholics cross their forehead, lips and heart at the Gospel?
We cross our forehead so that the Word of God may be in our thoughts & purify our minds.
We cross our lips so that our speech may be holy & incline us to share the Gospel with others.
And we cross our hearts to invite God to strengthen our love for Him and others.
This is so we may know, proclaim and love Jesus more.
Saint Michael, the Archangel, Please guide and protect our Police Officers, Firefighters, Emergency Personnel and First Responders
Prayer for our Troops Almighty God and Father, hold our servicemen and women in
your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for
us in our time and need. We ask this in the name of Jesus, Our Lord and Savior.
Amen
Reflection The teachings of our Lord embraces positive thinking, but it reaches beyond thoughts to touch the hidden possibilities of the spirit. When we face the reality of situations in our lives, positive thinking can help us to a point, but a relationship with the living Christ can do so much more. Positive thinking can only bring about limited solutions. Real change comes when you move past thinking, to an unshakable trust of God’s work in your life. Positive thinking, together with solid faith in the Almighty Christ, is a creative force that enables you to live as God intended you to live – in victory and with joy.
“Holy Spirit, fill my heart with courage and the faith to know the good, perfect and pleasing will of God. Amen”

CCommunion Dress and SSuit Fundraiser
ffor our Faith Formation Program
Do you have a gently used, but still in good condition Communion Dress or Suit?
We are looking for these items to sell at our upcoming Fundraiser for our program.
We would love to be able to offer these items to our families, and also help raise money to purchase new desks needed for our 2nd grade classroom.
We are going to offer these gently used Communion dresses & suits to our Communion families at reasonable prices. It's a win-win for all!
Please consider donating your child's Communion outfit and perhaps clean out some space in your closets at the same time!
If you have an outfit to donate, please email our Coordinator of Religious Education, Lori DiBiase at [email protected].
Thank you to all our Veterans, living and deceased for all the sacrifices they endured to make our country safe. We pray for you and your intentions on this Veteran’s Day. God bless you.
Prayer for Veterans
Help us, dear God, to see your face in every veteran we encounter. Guide us as we imagine new ways to support veterans and their families. Bring healing and peace to all who have been wounded physically, mentally, and spiritually during
wartime. Help us bring your saving grace to heal the invisible wounds of war. We ask this in Jesus’ holy name. Amen.
