GOSPEL JOHN N 9:1, 66-6-9, 1313-3-17, 3434-4-388383As Jesus passed by he saw a man blind from birth. He spat on the ground and made clay with the saliva, and smeared the clay on his eyes, and said to him, “Go wash in the Pool of Siloam” — which means Sent —. So he went and washed, and came back able to see. His neighbors and those who had seen him earlier as a beggar said, “Isn’t this the one who used to sit and beg?” Some said, “It is, “ but others said, “No, he just looks like him.” He said, “I am.” They brought the one who was once blind to the Pharisees. Now Jesus had made clay and opened his eyes on a sabbath. So then the Pharisees also asked him how he was able to see. He said to them, “He put clay on my eyes, and I washed, and now I can see.” So some of the Pharisees said, “This man is not from God, because he does not keep the sabbath.” But others said, “How can a sinful man do such signs?” And there was a division among them. So they said to the blind man again, “What do you have to say about him, since he opened your eyes?” He said, “He is a prophet.” They answered and said to him, “You were born totally in sin, and are you trying to teach us?” Then they threw him out. When Jesus heard that they had thrown him out, he found him and said, “Do you believe in the Son of Man?” He answered and said, “Who is he, sir, that I may believe in him?” Jesus said to him, “You have seen him, and the one speaking with you is he.” He said, “I do believe, Lord,” and he worshiped him.
Dear Parishioners and Friends: When you read this it will have been already many days with all of us in our individual homes. By now we are all learning new things about ourselves and about the people we live with. When we get through all of this, I will tell you everything I have learned about Fr. Jorge (and I will forbid him to tell you everything he has learned about me)! Perhaps we are also learning new things about pa ence and perseverance, prayer and God. This is a me to find new, crea ve ways to pray, as well as relying on the tradi onal methods. I know we all miss Mass. Inside this bulle n you will see a Prayer for Spiritual Communion. Though we cannot be physically together, we are indeed joined together by the Spirit of God! As always, let’s keep praying especially for those who are ill and their families, for those grieving the loss of loved ones, as well as those working in the fields of medicine and science. I also ask your prayers for our Na onal, State, Local and Church leaders. This is a new experience for everyone. May they be guided by the Lord’s wisdom and grace. I will con nue to communicate with you through social media (Twi er and Facebook), as well as our Website and Email. If you are not receiving emails from the parish, you can sign up on our Website. Our parish office will remain closed, and all parish mee ngs are canceled un l further no ce. And, of course, under the direc on of our Bishop, all public Masses are suspended at least un l April 3rd. If you or someone you know needs assistance, please call our parish office and leave a message with the Secretary or call our parish emergency number at: 856.745.7619. Again, I call upon the intercession of our patron saint, Joan of Arc. She knew well the discipline needed to do ba le. May her prayers and example inspire us to do all that is necessary to find victory in our ba le with COVID-19. May almighty God bless you and protect you, the Father, Son and Holy Spirit!

FAITH SHARING QUESTIONS REPAIR 1) In your life, when have you had an
experience of conversion or suddenly been able to see you had a blind spot?
2) Have you repaired a rela onship with forgiveness – and if so, how did you go about that?
3) What breakthrough is happening for you this Lent?
4) How is your life being a witness to others this Lent?
re-LENT in 2020 “REPAIR”
REPAIR: To fix. To mend. To make whole. To make good. How interes ng that on our first Sunday not together in Church for Mass because of an illness, a pandemic, we are given a Gospel in which Jesus heals a man born blind. No doubt in all our recent prayers we have been calling upon Jesus to heal this great infirmity we know as COVID-19 or the Coronavirus. What we might find in this Gospel (John 9:1-41 … it’s a long one, ge ng us ready for all the long Holy Week readings!) is that gives wants to repair all our sight. Perhaps through this pandemic, we will all see life and each other differently. We will see through the “stuff” of life that doesn’t mean nearly as much as spending quality me together, listening to each other, laughing and crying together, helping each other. Perhaps we will see into the heart of others and discover their goodness. Perhaps we will even see beyond our borders to the connectedness of the human race. Perhaps we will see the need for unity and working together. One thing for sure Jesus teaches in this Gospel is not to see God as the bringer of pes lence and illness. That’s not God’s work. God’s love and presence in our life always works to repair, to restore, to heal and make whole. And, the closer we get to Jesus, the more we begin to see that this is our reason for being in each other’s lives as well.
Every Day a “re” Word: How are you doing on your “re” words? Do you have a favorite yet? Has one been a par cular challenge? Remember to check us out on Twi er and Facebook. Every day we will share a “re” word to bring into our daily prayer and medita on this Lent.
PRAYER FOR SPIRITUAL COMMUNION (during the me we cannot be present for Mass) “My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You are already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from you. Amen.”
