Beginning September 4! Catalyst: Youth group for grades 6-12 Sunday nights. High schoolers (grades 9-12) meet every 1st and 3rd Sundays and Middle schoolers (grades 6-8) meet every 2nd and 4th Sundays from 6-8 p.m. We'll meet together in the Library for a lesson, discussion, and games! If you are an adult or student who wants to help with this program, please contact Nick at [email protected].

Confirmation Orientation — Sunday, Sept. 11, from 9:30-10:30 a.m. in the Library. This meeting is for all students in grades 6-8 and at least one parent. Confirmation for grade 6 will include Sunday mornings and First Communion classes with Pastor Aaron during Lent. Confirmation for grades 7-8 will include Sunday mornings and periodic afternoon Cate-chism classes with Pastor Chris. Catechism classes for grades 7-8 are mandatory and will be held on the following dates from 12-3:30 p.m.: Sept. 18, Oct. 16, Nov. 20, Jan. 15, March 19, and April 28-29 (overnight Confirmation retreat.)

Los Angeles Mission Trip Meeting — Come learn about the high school mission trip we are planning for the summer of 2017! On Sunday, Sept. 25, we will meet in the Library from 12:30-1:30 p.m. to discuss logistics, registration, costs, fundraising, and communication opportunities for students and parents. We have tentatively set July 9-14, 2017, as the dates for this trip, not including additional travel and "fun" days. This trip is open to anyone who is currently in grades 8-12. This meeting is mandatory for everyone who is interested in this trip. Contact Nick at [email protected] with questions.

2016 INTERNATIONAL POTLUCK

This event is a celebration of many of the different cultures God has brought together at Shepherd and will be held Sept. 25, 4:30 p.m. in the gym.

It's for everyone from Shepherd including children, AND it's a good time to invite guests.

There'll be a culture Bingo game that will feature food from different cultures as prizes.

SPECIAL COLLECTION

A special collection will be taken on Sunday, Sept. 11, for three San Antonio families whose firefighter husbands have died recently from occupational cancer.

FABRIC NEEDED

LWML (Lutheran Women’s Missionary League) needs your help. Our mission of making quilts requires an assortment of fabrics, and the supply of cotton and cotton blends is running low. If you have fabric pieces or large scraps, we would put them to good use making quilts for Lutheran World Relief. A collection box can be found under the LWML table in the
