Sunday 3rd June 2018
The current issue of Revive has a story about the in-coming President, Dr Deidre Palmer.
Be sure to take your copy with you as you go
Pentecost 2
The hanging background is made up of a variety
of green fabrics representing the diversity of the
Uniting Church and on it are symbols bringing
together hearts and flames.
After having white in the church to remind us of
the Easter season and then Red for Pentecost
the colours in the church are now green.
Green symbolises growth. This is a long season so
we have various symbols on the pulpit and wall
banners.
For the next 5 weeks, in the
lead up to the next National
Assembly, we will have the
pulpit banner with the theme
“Hearts on Fire”.
This was made three years ago
to represent the theme of the
last Assembly and the three
years since.
THE CRÈCHE (rear of the Sanctuary) is available for parents of small children to make
use of at any time during church services.
HEARING IMPAIRED can use the audio loop on rows 2, 3 and 4 in the middle pews, both left and right,
facing the Communion Table; a T-switch is required on your hearing aid. NOTE! - Each Sunday the Family Service is recorded on CD.
Please contact Bob Sumner if you would like a copy of the service.

Gina has been working as a theatre nurse at the Perth Eye Hospital for the past 15 years and is
considering retiring at the end of this year. She enjoys handcrafts although she hasn’t had the chance
to do much whilst working.
They have both been learning how to square dance and also enjoy cycling and going on long walks.
Alan and Gina have three children, Jess, Andrew and Stephen. Jess is a teacher and alsovolunteers

Andrew lives in Perth and works as a baker while Stephen, who lives in Queensland, is a bricklayer.
Gina and Alan attended Carine Uniting Church ten years ago but moved and attended a C3 Church
in Osborne Park. Recently they moved again to Floreat and feel they have been led to
All Saints Floreat Uniting Church.
They intend to travel in the coming years and are looking at purchasing a caravan to see more
of God’s beautiful country.
Alan was born in Perth and Gina in New York.
In 1971, Gina’s parents decided to move to Australia as
an adventure and felt it was one of the best decisions
that they ever made.
Alan has been retired for eight years. Prior to
retirement he was at the Australian Taxation Office for 33
years, working as a tax law adviser for large business.
He enjoys photography and star gazing, AFL (Eagles),
he’s a hack golfer and is interested in history.

WORLD VISION’ S AUSTRALIAN PROGRAM - EARLY CHILDHOOD DEVELOPMENT
Partnering with Indigenous communities in Western Australia and the
Northern Territory, and in collaboration with the Western Australian
Government, World Vision delivers an Aboriginal early years’ service in
Derby, delivering early childhood care and development projects in the
West Kimberley, including Mowanjum.
The Bubanil playgroup provides a welcoming place for parents to spend
time with their children and engage in education and learning activities which
support their child’s transition to school. In partnership with three Martu
communities in the Pilbara World Vision supports early childhood care and
education through community playgroups, local training and employment
opportunities and fostering links schools and other local service providers.
Family participation in the Early Years’ Service in Derby is now well beyond
expectations. Over fifty children attended playgroup in the first three months.
In 2011 World Vision was asked by the local Indigenous Coordination Centre
in Derby to undertake an assessment of community
priorities and aspirations in four, largely Ngarinyan,
communities along the Gibb River Road. While
three of the communities embraced World Vision
warmly from the start, the fourth community only
agreed to participate late in 2013. All four
communities have now identified early childhood
and youth programs as key to achieving this vision.
